The HD and MC versions of Metal Gear Solid 3 have the game's title on Snake's HALO mask.
The alternate texture you see in this mod can be found already in the game files, and likely completely unused.
Why? How could this be?
One possibility is that this was a correction BluePoint enacted in their original, highly acclaimed port.
Perhaps, Kojima's original vision for this scene couldn't be met within the limited power of the PlayStation 2's Emotion Engine. He waited for five years, for the opportunity to print the name of the game you're playing on the protagonist's face.
If this is the case, I can only apologise for infringing on Kojima-Kantoku's intent with this scene, and I will remove this file immediately upon his written request.
Another possibility, is that a placeholder texture accidentally made it to release.
