When Snake/Raiden/other characters are far away from the camera (or in some cases even close up), they get swapped out to low-polygon/low detail versions to help save performance... which was great for this game back in 2001 on the PS2. Nowadays, with modern computers, it doesn't do anything but reduce the game's visuals.
Comparatively, the AK-47 model in Counter Strike 2 has more polygons than MGS2 typically ever has on screen at any given time, ergo there is no performance impact by this mod unless you're running the game on a TI-84 that doesn't meet the minimum system requirements.
-ALL THE MODELS CURRENTLY IN THIS MOD ARE ORIGINAL GAME FILES.-
None of the models have been edited or converted with third party tooling, simply swapping out the low polygon models with their high polygon versions worked (in most cases - EVM replacements are not yet possible and this will be updated once SeaLouse or Austin316's EVM tooling is completed.
