IMMERSION MOD: Recreates the effect of looking through a mech pilot's helmet visor.

What it Does/Why I Made it:

You always see those mech pilots with the visor on their helmets, which often look like VR Headsets. I decided that the game did not represent what a pilot would actually be seeing if they were looking through one of those visors. So, I made a ReShade to simulate the experience. This is the result:

  • Old and somewhat malfunctioning CRT look to reflect the decaying technology of the Dark Age.
  • Looks great with in-game night vision
  • Increased immersion
  • Looks like you're watching recorded battle footage
  • Simulates screen burn-in, distortion, scan lines, film grain, etc. all to give a gritty dark-age of technology look
  • I do however suggest turning it off (insert key) when you're not piloting a mech as it makes the menus hard to look at. I like to think of it as taking my helmet on/off.
I may update this as I play more of the game and tinker around with ReShade. If there are any suggestions let me know.
Requirements:

  • Download Reshade here
  • Install Reshade
  • Select the game file, it should be located here:
    "C:\Program Files\Epic Games\MW5Mercs\MW5Mercs\Binaries\Win64\MechWarrior-Win64-Shipping.exe"
  • Then choose "Direct3D 10/11/12" for the next option
  • Click yes when prompted to install presets.

Using this ReShade:
  • Download the file from this page
  • Extract the CRT.ini file and copy it over to the the same base folder:
    "C:\Program Files\Epic Games\MW5Mercs\MW5Mercs\Binaries\Win64"
  • Choose "yes" if prompted to overwrite the files.
  • Boot up MechWarrior 5.
  • Go into the graphic settings and disable "Sharpening"
  • Hit the "Home" key to open up the Reshade settings
  • Select "CRT.ini" in the menu and enjoy!
  • You can turn the reshade on/off at any time by hitting the "Insert" key.
