I'm not sure, but I think this has a conflict with MW2 Betty Voice Ultimate, and not just in terms of the UI or sounds. I think if the Betty mod overrides this one, the airstrikes don't get their damage improved. I need to test to see if I'm just imagining it, though, but it felt like the airstrikes weren't doing very much when Betty was overriding this and I used an airstrike on a bunch of buildings.
IS there a possibility to add ModOptions compatibility, for fine-tuning the values? Not really caring about the visual confirmation ring, if dynamically resizing this one would be a problem - core functionality of the mod is what I would love being able to adjust.
Yea kind of imbalanced in that it'll wipe out any target base with one strike - makes half of the missions a cheat. Also imbalanced in that you can get multiple airstrikes.
It's hard to balance for that while making it: both big enough to be effective against 'mechs, and; not too big so as not to wreck bases quickly. Keep in mind that the damage values are barely tweaked (if at all), and reducing coverage could make for poor performance against targets because it could lower the chances of a target even being hit.
It sounds almost as if the original version might be best for you. Even in vanilla one can get multiple strikes, so the same can be accomplished with 2 strikes or so, or just doing one and then helping out to do the rest.
I'd avoid using the airstrike as a personal restriction against bases (like I do sometimes); knowing that, by the game's design (bases aren't very large - yet 'mechs can be quite spaced apart), it's very tricky to balance well - if not impossible.
If I ever get mod options working, I'll allow for a slider for radius, at the very least.
I enjoy the mod, but I do agree it's a little strong at the moment. For me it comes down to the length of the bombardment. Feels less like calling in a carpet bomb from a plane and more like ordering an artillery barrage. I'll still take it over the floppy noodle Piranha gave us but yeah, lasts a little long in my personal opinion.
As an aside, if I could I'd replace the airstrike altogether with an artillery barrage, artillery markers and all. I'd love to see that go down by my orders. Sadly too busy to look into it atm.
I agree that it takes a long time, at the least. That's something that I've thought about, but haven't found a way to (nor investigated how to) change.
I might look into that, as it would be a good change. (Very busy, myself, at the moment - life *and* mods included.)
vanilla airstrike do poor damage, only useful against cities, maybe a little more damage version? just a little, like a heavy gets some decent damage? maybe? please? there was another mod that ups the damage just at 1.5 and i found the airstrikes useful against mechs but that mods has been abandoned it seems, i use this spread the damage but do nothing against heavys and assaults

(If I knew how to make this separately (or if PGI came up with a way to merge mods), I would!)
Interesting idea, though.
If not able to do modoptions, in the meantime can you make a version that is half way between vanilla and this version?
I also don't want to segment too much.
What are you experiencing? Anything out of the ordinary based on what I said?

Thanks.
