About this mod

Modifies the in-game music. Features music by Timothy Seals, and from older MechWarrior games, as well as other pieces.

Permissions and credits
Updated for DLC6.

This mod replaces the majority of the existing music within the game with new pieces from a variety of sources.  Most of the in-mission music is from MechWarrior 2 and Timothy Seals.  Some key points:

  • I have incorporated music into all maps within the game, including the all of the DLCs.
  • Rather than simply playing one song during a mission, there are shifts in musical tone, beginning with an ambient track then progressing to a combat track.  Further combat tracks play if the mission lasts long enough.
  • A new musical stinger will play when mercenary drops occur.
  • In some areas of the game, such as the Mechlab, multiple tracks can play, resulting in a less monotonous experience.
  • A wide variety of tracks are used, as opposed to re-using the same tracks for different purposes - none of the Mechlab tracks are used in-mission, for example.
  • I have taken steps to avoid the same track playing over and over within a mission, or in a sequence of missions.  This can still occur but it's extremely unlikely.

Installation Instructions
1. Download the .7z file and extract it using 7-Zip.
2. Locate your Mods directory (Steam: Steamapps/Common/Mechwarrior 5 Mercenaries/MW5Mercs/Mods), creating it if necessary.
3. Place the extracted directory, 'HarmonicWarfare', within the Mods directory, such that the structure is MW5Mercs/Mods/HarmonicWarfare.
4. Load the game up and click the Mods button, then select the mod in the list and click apply.  Restart the game.
5. Load the game up again and you should hear new music at the main menu.

Uninstall Instructions
1. At the main menu, click on Mods and untick Harmonic Warfare.
2. Close the game and locate the 'HarmonicWarfare' directory that you placed under Mods in the installation procedure.
3. Delete the 'HarmonicWarfare' directory.
4. The mod is now uninstalled.  Note that the mod is safe to uninstall at any point.

I hope you enjoy the mod.  Feel free to write any feedback or other comments in the Posts section.

Bugs & Known Issues
- Sometimes a mission will start on a combat track as opposed to an ambient one.

Changelog
1.0: Mod released.
1.1: Removed a certain track from the post-mission screen.  Added several tracks to Mechlab/Starmap screen, a few other additions here and there.
1.2: Reconfigured all ambient tracklists so that additional tracks play in the event of combat tracks not starting.  Removed a track from Mechlab/Starmap screen.  Altered ambient & combat tracks for one map.
1.3: Complete rebuild of the mod's music structure. Fixed music failing to advance to combat tracks.  Fixed same music playing over and over in some cases where a sequence of missions used the same music playlist.  Incorporated the new tracks into DLC 5 missions.
1.4: Another complete rebuild of the mod's music structure.  Music volume tuned slightly, should fit better with the sounds and voices during missions instead of overpowering them.  A few new tracks.  Compatibility with DLC6.
1.4.1: Music volume bug fixed - in-mission music will now correctly obey the music volume slider.  A few combat tracks were tweaked slightly so that they transition better.  Added a new Mechlab track.
1.4.2: Added two new tracks - one combat track, one Mechlab track.
1.4.3: Added eight new tracks.  Tuned track weighting to make certain non-MW tracks play a little less often.  This will probably be the last update, unless it breaks again with a future patch/DLC release.
