To answer the comments about re-scaling mechs.

I can remove the re-scales (although it will be a pain to do so), But I will not. Ever!

Gigantic and out of whack mech scales in vanilla MW5 has always been an issue that I personally had with the game and hated it more than anything.

I apologize for this, and sorry if you don't like that aspect, or would not want to use the mod including re-scale... but it is there to stay.

If you really have to... try deleting "Extended_Mechlab02.pak" from the mod's pak folder and see if re-scale gets disabled or not. And hope that you don't get an error or crash.

Do targeting computers appear in shops separate from mechs? so far ive only ever found them attached to mechs so im having to buy entire mechs just to get targeting computers. They get pretty common that way but Ive never seen them separate.

    *Edit*
Nvm, go figure as soon as I finally post asking about it i find one.

When I install this mod the list of equipment has no item names in it, making it impossible to know what anything is until you start dragging the item and them the name is visible. This happens with no other mods installed, on a new game, and I've tried version 146,146a and 145 all with the same problem.

Does anyone have any idea what could be causing this and how to fix it?

I am betting that this mod and others are already better than the DLC. I hate to say it, but at this point I am jaded.

I have suggestions concerning FF armor kits.

You should rebalance them so that they are actually useful compared to the endosteel structure kit.

The Endosteel kit removes about 5 tons of weight on a 100 tons Atlas and take up 14 slots. Make sense, it free up a lot of weight but take quite some space too.

Now the FF armor kit only remove 2 tons for the same mech, while still using up a whole 14 slots of space. Who would use that when the endosteel kit (That is also available much earlier in the game) is much better? The FF armor kit doesn't provide any kind of extra armor or damage reduction, so it's quite useless.

Same for the FF Light armor kit, a mere 1 ton for 7 slots is way too much. If FF was 6 slots and FFL was 4 slots, they would at least be more usable. If they provided some kind of passive damage reduction (Not a lot, 10% for the FF and 5 for the FFL) they would be more viable as well.

Also, I would suggest to add light versions of the hardened, reactive and reflective armor kits.

I may just be really stupid but the moment I add this mod every enemy tank because unbelivably tanky, like, 50+ AC10 rounds to components and doesn't blow it off, I love every other part of the mod but hell

    Right, i'm gonna say it:

Giving the enemy Long Tom arty is the worst idea ever. My entire lance composed of high-end 100 tons mechs get absolutely destroyed by a single Atlas carrying one of those.

The issue is that the explosion damage every single part of a mech. A hit to the front will also obliterate the back plates, exposing the structure. Another followup shot and you're dead. It's impossible to dodge too and even a near miss will f*** you up.

I would suggest to reduce the AOE damage and significantly reduce velocity. I don't understand how you can lob a huge shell like this on a small cannon with that much high velocity. Wouldn't spit at a damage reduction too.

I have been loving this mod so far, but I am unable to find ecm at all unfortunately. Just realized this when I got ahold of a nightstar NSR-10P variant. What can I do to fix this?

To “fix” it you have to wait for official DLC and buy it. PGI already announced ECM, BAP and few other systems as part of next DLC. And I am pretty sure they will not be happy if some modder add their “merchandise” as part of free modification. Yes, it smells. But this is how modern game industry works.

it would be really shitty if PGI just stole all the content from the best mods and sold it as DLC, but then again these are the people that took the official free copy of MW4 merc of the internet, so I would not put anything past them :P

Just so everyone sees both sides of this argument. Leave MWO in MWO. The MW5 customization system works more in line with the Battletech Universe much better than the Reskinned COD that is MWO. There are MANY engineering reasons why you can't fit X+Infinity medium lasers onto 'Mechs.

hm, that's a valid point.. perhaps it would be good to leave the weapon slot system untouched but integrate the rest of the (amazing) features like engines and custom accessory parts..
Also in terms of the BT lore.. isn't that exactly what the Clans did with the superior omni mechs - enabling that you can add any weapon type instead e.g. just energy weapons?
EDIT: misunderstood the interface at first - please see comment below.

What exactly is your source for MW5's MechLab being closer to lore than MWO, or are you just conjecturing because it *feels* wrong? From where I'm sitting, MWO is far closer to the established customization rules laid out in campaign supplements for the tabletop game (as seen in Strategic Operations), and there are a number of custom variants in lore which aren't even possible in MechWarrior Online's mechlab, and need the full flexibility of tabletop customization to exist, especially in older models such as the Griffin and Marauder.

I myself also enjoy the slot based system over being able to put any weapon in any sized hard point, mostly because it gives each variant more personality for what it was designed to do, Personally if the mech comes with a AC 2 trying to put AC 20 into that slot just doesn't feel like it should fit, the entire system would have to be changed probably the structure an any internal system would drastic, time consuming and expensive overhaul to even possibly work. I feel it also leads to make more mechs or variants dependent, Why take HBK 4G when now the SHD can mount a AC 20, moves faster and jumps. But again personal opinion but then you have mechs like the dragon 1n or 1c which just wont be viable if it can at least change a slot size, so its a two edge sword. I love the other systems in place tho, the sensors upgrade, the changing of armor types, targeting, thermals and the rest. Tho for the whole weapons and engines thing I just play it more as I would if the system was still in place, changing engines was a massive undertaking in terms of time, skills and resources that almost meant you might as well rebuild the mech, but again personal preference, tho if there was say a Reloaded lite version which kept the hard point system I would go for that hands down, the other upgrades a very welcome tho. Hell I would even be fine with a system where you could get a upgrade that allows you to change the slot type of the weapon but requires the upgrade first as for engines, personally If a mech comes with that engine it should retain the engine but be allowed to switch its type, If it comes with a Vlar 300 it should have the ability to change to a XL 300 or LFE 300 as it does not change the rating of the engine it self. Other from that I enjoy the mod for what it is I just roleplay keeping engines the same.

The funny part is that the tabletop rules for mech customization are far more extensive than even MWO, making MW5 much further from lore than this mod/MWO. Of course you'd need some pretty skilled mechtechs to do such refits without significant risk to the mechs/equipment, but what else are we keeping "the best mechtech in the Inner Sphere" around for, if not to refit my mechs?

@vonSeiten, Omnimechs just enabled massive refits of equipment (ECM, Weapons, Ammo) to be done significantly faster and with less difficulty than performing a similar job on a Battlemech. Something in this game that would take several months (e.g. stripping a stock KGC and kitting it out with 2 Gauss and an ERPPC) would merely take days to weeks for an Omnimech, as well as being significantly cheaper. However, certain large jobs (Engines, Armor, Structure, and whatever host of "fixed" equipment the chassis shares in all its standard configurations) couldn't be performed on an Omnimech without functionally converting it to a Battlemech and sacrificing all the logistical advantages that come with being an Omnimech.

Also, hardpoints are an element unique to the MechWarrior related titles (including HBSTech here), as tabletop had no presence of them. There's nothing but your conscience stopping you from making a Atlas that has a machine gun occupying nearly every slot (leaving room for ammo of course).

      Just wanted to say this;

This is the biggest brained argument I've seen since the beginning of even MWO days;, when has Mechwarrior games ever really followed lore? You're telling me that the previous incarnations of this game were also COD? Mechwarrior 2, 3 and 4?

I come from a battletech background when fasa owned it and played the hell out of tabletop and truth be told yes this mod puts it closer to tabletop than most. basically for those unfamiliar in the original table top you could put whatever weapons you wanted you just had to allot the tonnage and the crit slots onto the mech for crit rolls. with that being said however it all boils down to dont like it dont install it.

for me i like the customized feel of building various mechs with armor and engines working with tonnage I have. the reason I personally stopped playing MWO is cause of the wait times between matches and the near constant nascar. this brings the building i like into a well overdue addition to the mechwarrior series. Even if it does copy some aspects of MWO.

      @inteli722 and other:
sorry, I have to correct my statement:) I didn't get at first that the amount of different type of weapon slots are indeed limited. When going to the detail view, it first looks like you can throw in as many weapons as you like (and the tonnage allows), since there are no coloured boxes - but on top, there is the number.
I misunderstood this completely at first. Sorry for the confusion!

The moment you bring engineering reasons into this, it loses validity.

The entire BT universe contradicts physics, science, and anything in between.

Also BT construction rules are much much much much more relaxed than even what this mod allows... you can put Anything Anywhere according to the construction rules.

Also among MW titles MW5 has been the only one deciding to significantly cut one of the core features of the franchise... and guess which of those titles are failing miserably and will be in a game store's free basket soon.... yes... MW5 is.

      Sometimes less is more.

I was disappointed that we could not see such system be available in advanced industrial system with proper factory done by PGI.

On the other hand - time, reputation cap, upgrade and maintenance cost can balance this issue. But having our very own favorite mech upgraded in line with existing hero mech?

Does this mod goes around 3025 tech or goes much further?

customization options in the campaign only become available at certain time/years.

If you think you can go crazy with customization right off the bat, you are deeply mistaken.

Oldschool BT tabletop player here...... we TT guys have an inside joke about Canopian Catgirls, and how every time someone argues about real-life science, engineering, or military tactics at the table, a Canopian Catgirl dies.

Y'all need to chill and think about those poor innocent catgirls.

Love the work! Stupid question, the same mod can be found on the EPIC launcher mod-thingy, is that always the latest version or should i download it from here?
