About this mod

This mod is similar to my Sword and Shield Viking Conquest mod in the sense that it overhauls gameplay, see my long description for more info.

A brytenwalda overhaul that uses brytenwalda repolished as the base module. Since this is not a dlc but a mod, I get to upload the whole file and make installing it much easier!

Version-This is based off brytenwalda Repolished which is based off Brytenwalda special edition 1.41

Purpose and design focus-
This mod keeps most of brytenwalda's original goals and ideals as a mod, but changes the gameplay to be more brutal and realistic. I learned some modding lessons with my sword and shield mod, and so I've tried with this mod to maintain a well balanced game gameplay wise while keeping the hardcore and historical aspects of Brytenwalda.

Installation Guide-Find your M&B Warband modules folder, typically program files (x86 if you have a 64 bit PC)-Steam-SteamApps-Common-MountBlade Warband-Modules, once in the modules folder place my mod inside of it, launch warband and select it in the middle upper box in the launcher.

This is a standalone module so Brytenwalda saves or Brytenwalda Repolished Saves will not work with this.

The big changes

*There has been a complete stat rebalance, I did this as I was tired of the hack and slash of vanilla Brytenwalda. The combat is more brutal and based on the player's actual skill and not statistics.

*Weapons have been changed cost wise and sometimes damage wise to suit how much they costed historically.

*Tunics and other clothing no longer cost hundreds of schillings, because what peasant would pay 300 shillings for tunic?

*Several changes to troop tree inventories

Weapons and their prices

Spears-Dominant weapons at the time, spears have proven reliable and deadly throughout history until guns came along. Spears now do more pierce and cut damage, peasants and farmers also carry low quality spears. Overhaul spears are reliable weapons and their cheap so it can be worth specializing into pole arms.

Axes-Some peasants carry axes, small cheap hatchets though. These weapons are effective and can even pierce mail. Axes have been the AK-47 of modern times through history, reliable, cheap, deadly, but with it's downsides. Axes are slow, can be parried easily, and axemen can be killed by spearmen easily if at a distance. Axes make great secondary weapons, and excellent weapons for a shield wall, but not the best in open combat. Gameplay wise I didn't change much except price, they were well balanced in vanilla.

Swords-The classic and noble sword is a very effective weapon for killing peasants, soldiers, and nobles, so anyone really. Not much changes mod wise, I changed the damage on some because swords are easy to obtain and way to effective for when you get them. Not really any changes in price, swords weren't commonly used or brought by soldiers or peasants until the late middle ages as they were fairly expensive.

Saxes (seaxes)-Historically these were great weapons in a shield wall, having a good capability of getting under an opponents shield and digging into his leg, but this mod is designed for gameplay and let's face it: Seaxes are F***ing useless for the AI troops. Tired of your nobles marching into battle with a friggin hunting knife... Seaxes in this mod have some improved piercing and cutting capabilities, but I removed seaxes from any unit above tier 1.

Bows and crossbows-Much more useful, I found a good mix of native style bows but without the crazy Legolas speed. Crossbows do more damage and are more accurate. Only the picts carry them into battle and in merchant stock.

Slings and skirmish weapons other than javelins-Useless weapons for troops that only serve to get them killed, that's what slings are. This mod removes slings from all units. No changes have been made to them for they are completely useless. Historically? Yes effective weapons and troops, but this is Warband not Total War, and slingers just don't work for Warband.

Troop Changes

This part of the mod by far required the most work

*All recruits carry buckler, small shields, light spears, and small hatchets, and NO slings.

*Some troops will have gloves in battle and some will not, it is in all troops inventories, but it's not guaranteed that they will equip it.

*Troops no longer have extremely crazy weird Welsh names (no offense welsh people). The troops have been translated to modern English, finally I can finally see what friggin culture my troops are from. For example seaxe means saxon, so recruiting someone from Sussex you will have a South Saxon in your party. All names are made to fit, for example: angle warrior or recruit depending on what tier.

*Troops can no longer take 70 damage and be fine. There has been a complete stat rebalance, I did this as I was tired of the hack and slash of vanilla Brytenwalda. The combat is more brutal and based on the player's actual skill and not statistics.

Other changes

*Several of the main towns have been changed to their modern English names. Canterbury, London, etc.

*Reinforcement waves last forever, because I was tired of killing 100 troops, the battle exiting out, going back in, killing 100 more, going back out etc... fights last in one battle no matter what your battle size is.

*Lords will a have an army size that matches your army size a little more. Realistic? No. But balanced? Yes. having a 100 mid tier men and being a mercenary is a perfectly reasonable way to play.

*Some mercenaries have been changed, for instance a slinger is now an archer.

Issues and side effects caused by this mod

*Troops cost much less to keep in your army, I have no idea why this is, I guess it's because the quality of the troops. But I'm unable to fix it atm.

*The spatha sword mesh no longer works for some reason, it uses a normal sword now. If I can find the mesh and re put it onto the spatha than I can fix it, but atm it is an issue.
