About this mod

Based on watafuzz' Road Rage Mobility mod

Disclaimer:
I share my mod, files, project files and information on what I did here 'as is'. I had fun with the modding and wanted to share my work so it may be of use for other people. But don't expect me to release further revisions or provide support for things that do not work with the mod. Though you're very welcome to take my project files, improve/fix and share them yourself.

Credits go to:
watafuzzRoad Rage - Mobility mod - Thanks for uploading your project file! Couldn't have made this without it!
fuxsart's Fast Mining mod - Thanks for the idea! (project-file unfortunately was missing so I did this from scratch)

Description:
As several comments under the Fast Mining Mod by fuxsartasked for the project file or some help to combine it with the Road Rage - Mobility Mod by watafuzz and I felt the need myself, I went and did it myself.
I also felt like the Nomad being more different to control and steer with the Road Rage Mobility Mod
What I wanted to achieve with this mod:
  • top speed increase
  • more boost capacities
  • useful hover thrust (as the implemented vanilla thrust was pretty useless in my opinion)
  • preserve or come close to the good and balanced handling/steering properties of the vanilla Nomad
  • faster mining (aiming for 2-3 drones per mining area to make it easier but keep a bit of the feeling)
  • twice the minerals from every mining node

In the trial and error process of creating this mod I first tried to build everything from scratch with inspirations of the modded values in the Road Rage Mobility mod but unfortunately was and limit them to the essential ones. Unfortunately I was unable to really achieve any top speed increase, just took the project files and searched for values to improve the handling.

You'll also find an archive containing my previous and never released versions as well as the changes I did on each version. If you're up to redo the mod or make your own this could spare you some time. Some values looked promising given their name but didn't do anything to achieve my goals and had to revert to previous versions multiple times when everything was messed up.

Mod file naming explanation:

Recommendation: v1.2_oc_dm most supposedly is the mod anybody is looking for when coming here.

v1.2_rrm
(rrm = Road Rage - Mobility)
  • My version of speed/torque/whatever enhancement which is based on Road Rage - Mobility with some minor modifications only and without any modifications to mining

v1.2_Eddga
('I am' Eddga - it's the nickname I mostly use - so it's a personal version so to say)
A mediocre enhancement so to say which means:
  • Based on v1.2_rrm: My version of speed/torque/whatever enhancement
  • + MaxResourceStrength for Nomad increased from 200 to 300
  • + MaxScanningRadius/GatherRadius for Nomad from 200/140 both set to 200
  • + Increased GatherRadius/CenterRadius of MiningNodes from 57/13 to 200/150 and kept ResourceStrength on vanilla values

v1.2_dm
(dm = double Mining)
  • Based on v1.2_rrm: My version of speed/torque/whatever enhancement
  • + MaxResourceStrength for Nomad increased from 200 (300) to 400
  • + MaxScanningRadius/GatherRadius for Nomad from 200/140 both set to 200
  • + Increased GatherRadius/CenterRadius of MiningNodes from 57/13 to 200/150 and kept ResourceStrength on vanilla values
  • + Doubled the vanilla ResourceStrength (large/medium/small) for each mining node:
From 50/20/10 to 100/40/20 for rarer minerals Element Zero, Platinum, Titanium and Vanadium
From 120/60/25 to 240/120/50 for the other minerals

v1.2_oc_dm
(oc = one-click; dm = double mining)
  • Based on v1.2_dm
  • + All radiuses for Nomad and mining nodes set to the same value: 550 which grants one-drone/-click mining

Documentation
(or "show me what you did there, I'll bet I can do better")

See the Readme/NomadND2doc.txt in the DOCS tab above for an in-depth documentation of almost all the altered values.

Use FrostyEditor to open the provided project files and alter them or make your own mod.
Also there might be discrepancies between what values are given here and what really is changed in the mod in the end (or is written above in the file explanation section).
I lost patience somewhere on my way and haven't kept this section updated. :D
But it gives you an idea of what to find where and which values to edit.
