About this mod

A crystal clear preset for ME2.

Crisp and colourful, this is inspired by the Mass Effect Legendary Edition.

I have been using the preset by Carinth01 for years but recently started having problems with older reshade versions, so I thought I'd make something completely different from my ME1 reshade which is meant to mimic the sort of atmosphere of movies like Aliens. Apart from the legendary edition, I have seen a few screenshots of really bright presets for old ME2 but couldn't find exactly what I wanted. This removes the muddy green tint, sharpens up and brightens the image, and includes SMAA. Since HDR darkens everything I left that off, so apart from the AA this is very performance friendly. It is particularly good at showing off nice textures. In the screenshots I'm only using this reshade and new textures limited to 2k for visual upgrades.

To install reshade you need the latest framework from here https://reshade.me/ download the basic components that it selects by default when you install. Put my ME2Reshade.ini in your Mass Effect 2 Binaries folder which will also have the d3d9.dll in it. Launch the game and press the Home key which will open your reshade menu then select my ini from the box at the top with the + next to it. Once that is done you can choose to load only used effects under settings, tweak things to your liking, check your frame rate etc. When you are happy, tick the Performance Mode box and exit the menu with Esc.

If you are modding Mass Effect you should know about ALOT, my reshade would be a poor choice to use with vanilla textures.

El's ME2 Complexion Tweaks is about the best example of modding greatness, I never use her Sheploo, Miranda, or Kaidan as I prefer the original look of those characters but my god her textures are quality. Check out her rendition of Joker in my screenshots.

ME2 was always sadly lacking in the armour department, Expanded Shepard Armory remedies that.
