Origin offers Dragon Age: Origins free for a limited time

  • Comment
Possibly to increase interest in the upcoming release of Dragon Age: Inquisition, EA has released the original Dragon Age: Origins on the unfortunately similarly-named Origin, their content delivery system, for free.

As with any of their "On the House" specials, it will only be free for a limited time of unknown duration.

This package contains the base game, with no DLC except for the Stone Prisoner.  The other DLC remains full price.

Get it here, while you can.

Update: Alas, as of the 14th of October, the promotion has ended.

A few months ago the copies of DAO and Awakening that I bought through Origins stopped working. Despite raising support tickets, they were no help at all, so I deleted them and bought pre-owned disks. Now I am happy again - and I've ordered DAI on disk as well. Will never buy anything that's not very, very discounted on Origin ever again!

I had some problems with it at some point during the time I've owned it, though it was very stable at the beginning for me, and only after some update patches did it start to act strangely, but I found some settings that seemed to work fine for my system.  I expect it's different for different systems.  Definitely a fun game for me aside from that.

Glad the post is helping out a bit.  I would have posted the news on Friday, but they had changed the news area since my last post and I needed to get access again.

I was having the same problem. I eventually got it to run by right clicking on the icon on my desktop, clicking "troubleshoot compatibility", then "try recommended settings", then "test the program." The game ran for me after that. However, I'm not sure if that is a permanent fix or not, but it got the game to run. I hope that this works for you as well.

Thank you for the "heads up", Tchos. I've had an interest in this series of games for some time, but was unsure whether or not that I would like it. This will now give me a chance to find out for myself. It is unfortunate that you have to go through holy hell to sign up to get it. Well there's no such thing as a free lunch in America as the wise man said. Thank you again.

P.S. It said that the offer was good until the 14th of October so don't dawdle.
