Mass Effect trilogy is build on Unreal Engine 3 which base settings can be tweaked by editing game configuration files - .ini-s.

BIOGame.ini, BIOParty.ini, BIOInput.ini, BIOGuiResources.ini - main configuration files, where all gameplay settings are stored.
Location: C:\Users\<USER_NAME>\Documents\BioWare\Mass Effect\Config\...

Main goal of this tweaks for gameplay:
- Change in-game settings as you want;
- Fixes for several aspects of the game;
- Enable hidden options;
- Make gameplay  simpler/harder as you want;
- Alter planetary gravity;

^ Main game modifications: ^
+++ Quickload option added;
Press [<F9>] to load your quicksave;
! Manual setting required - see Readme;

+++ Added options: Fly camera, Take screenshots, hide HUD, Show FPS;
- Fly camera [<F10> press on/off]; - allows you to fly across the level map and take beautiful screenshots;
- Take screenshots - [<F11>];
Screenshots will be stored in: 'C:\Users\<USER_NAME>\Documents\BioWare\Mass Effect\ScreenShots\...';
- Hide HUD [<F8> hold for hide]; - Hides HUD - interactive objects display on screen in and out of combat mode;
Hold [<F8>] & press [<F11>] to take creenshot without interactive objects display;
- Show FPS [<F12> press on/off]; - show fps counter;

+++ Levitation enabled - [<Z> hold for levitate];
Shepard now can levitate! [when holding button] -  by using 30-45 degrees ground flat surface as launchpad;
Note: this is Unreal engine 3 default console option that allows limited player-fly ability with locked camera - use with caution! (don`t fall over the map);

+++ Game speed acceleration option - [<MiddleMouseButton> press for 5x game speed increase];
Very handy for travel fast across the map + it also works with cutscenes;

+++ Console enabled, key: [< ` >] (tilde);

^ Player properties: ^
+++ Medkits & grenades
- Increased each capacity to 10 (without upgrades);

+++ Inventory capacity
- Increased capacity to 500;

^ Conversation properties: ^
Dialog system optimization -  wheel appears immediately, and helps prevent choosing unwanted answers when skipping dialogue;

^Combat tweaks:^
- MAKO XP count system alteration - this option will give you the same combat XP in the Mako as on foot;
- Squadmete`s health on resurection modifier increased - up to 30%/40%/60% per skill level;
- Squadmates now can lean to cover;
- Corpse cleanup time alteration;

^Optional settings manual edit:^
- Changes the color and transparency of the subtitles;
- Codex audio time appearance;
- Activate physics on dead bodies;

^Optional download - Planetary gravity:^
Global gravity alteration - value decreased to 1/3 of normal Earth-type gravity;
Mass Effect is a game about space in which there is an opportunity to explore the planets.
You never thought about why:
- all the planets have almost the same look terrain;
- all planets without atmosphere have gravity of terrestrial type;
- MAKO with powerful shunting engines can not lift itself from the earth above 3 meters, but can climb on steep, 90 degree rocks;
The purpose of the change is to give us the opportunity to get the gaming experience of the space explorer;
- Gravity affects only of those objects wich can/can be lifted up in the air/space - it doesn`t affect normal character`s movement mechanics;
- Since in ME1 there is no player jumping mechanics - only MAKO able to jump/lift;

^Optional download - Weapons lighting removed:^
Disabled lighting for all weapons;

Detailed  descriptions are provided in Readme file;
Buttons can be remapped - see readme;

When you launch ME1 in My documents the game creates folder 'BioWare\Mass Effect\' and config files: BIOGame.ini, BIOParty.ini, BIOInput.ini, BIOGuiResources.ini with in-game settings by-default.
When you change Gameplay settings or controls - all changes you apply will be stored in BIOGame.ini and BIOInput.ini;
When you delete file or folder there - the game will create a new one with default settings;

====================== INSTALLATION - first of all MAKE BKP ======================

Place 'BIOGame.ini, BIOParty.ini, BIOInput.ini, BIOGuiResources.ini'  to C:\Users\<USER_NAME>\Documents\BioWare\Mass Effect\Config\... > override ? > yes.

When you create new character place downloaded files after saving game (game set all options by default after you create new character);

Change controls (key bindings):
When you add or change controls in BIOInput.ini, you will also need to comment or delete its corresponding line, such as:
"Bindings(Name="F9",InputMode=BIO_INPUT_MODE_NONE,Command="exec FKEY_F9.txt",Control=False,Shift=False,Alt=False)";
Otherwise the 'Command= ...' bind won't do anything; (Example: want to use 'F9' - delete/comment 'exec FKEY_F9.txt' line);
To comment line: add [< ; >] before line - this should disable game`s code reading and usage; (remove [< ; >] to enable line);

====================== EDIT ======================

Download Notepad++ 6.9.1
DO NOT USE Word, Wordpad or notepad - this will screw up your game.
- go to: C:\Users\<USER_NAME>\Documents\BioWare\Mass Effect\Config\... and open BIOGame.ini, BIOParty.ini, BIOInput.ini, BIOGuiResources.ini;
- Right-click on the file > Open with notepad++

// How to compare two files in Notepad++ ? //
In Notepad++ add plugin 'Compare' (main panel > plugins> plugin manager > show plugin manager > find plugin 'Compare' > Install > (if program asks if you would like to update manager - yes, only once). Open two BIOGame.ini-s> main panel > plugins> Compare > select one of two files 'set a first to compare' > switch to second file > plugins> Compare > compare > Now you can see differences between two files - they are highlighted)

(If you want to rollback to default settings just delete BIOGame.ini, BIOParty.ini, BIOInput.ini, BIOGuiResources.ini).

====================== NOTES ======================

You can always edit gameplay properties as you want: with this this template or your default .ini-s;

Suggestions for mod improvement are welcome!
