====================ABOUT THE MOD=====================
A mod created that is a product of 250+ hours of researching, analyzing, comparing, and matching the in-game vehicles to the ones found in real life.
Most names are based on the suggestions from both the Mafia Definitive Edition wiki AND the Mafia (2002) wiki,
some are personal interpretation and some are from users who conducted their own research.
- Changes the car brand names and car names of ALL 54 vehicles in the game to their real life counterparts that is displayed
in the UI in the Carcyclopedia, Garage, and the car brand name UI that displays whenever you enter any vehicle.
- Changes traffic variety and car spawn behavior such that the cars will only spawn at the specific year their real car name suggests.
This realistic traffic variety feature is based from Sparky66's Realistic Traffic Variety mod, except that this one improves it in many ways.
Though the cars will only spawn at the specific year their real car name suggests, some cars were made as an exception to this rule in order
to make it lore-friendly to the game's setting. They were made as an exception to the rule due to at least one of the following reasons:
- They appear in-game in a mission in Story Mode that is earlier than the year their real life counterpart was produced
(e.g. the 1935 Ford 5-Window Custom Taildragger Coupe a.k.a Bolt V8 appearing as early as the 1930's era of Story Mode, specifically during
the mission "Molotov Party" where the vehicle can be found parked facing the gates in Salieri's Bar and the yellow Smith V-12 that
is used by the Morello thug that you will chase during the Story Mode mission "Ordinary Routine".)
- They appear in a cutscene in Story Mode that is earlier than the year their real life counterpart was produced
(e.g. Don Morello's 1934 Mercedes Benz 500K a.k.a Celeste Mark 5 vehicle that appears during the cutscene with Joey Crackers that occurred in the 1932's era of the game)
^ This helps make the mod VERY lore-friendly.
- Allows literally ALL 54 vehicles in the game to be stored in the garage, including the unused Parry Betting Office and Smith Thrower.
- Allows all 54 vehicles to be driveable (e.g. the Parry Betting Office was undriveable in the vanilla game.)
- Allows you to view all 54 vehicles in the game in the Carcyclopedia since not all vehicles appear in it in the vanilla game.
This mod is best enjoyed with the "Free Ride Deluxe V2.6" mod being installed first BEFORE this one.

====================MOD FEATURES=====================
For reference as well as in order to avoid possible confusion, please be informed that there five (5) different year eras throughout the game.

in the UI of the Carcyclopedia, Garage, and the car brand name UI that pops up whenver you enter any vehicle.
Here's the full and complete list of ALL 54 cars in the game that comes with their full and complete real life car names for reference.
Take note that a lot of the names had to be shortened in order to fit the game's UI display since adding more results to the game NOT
displaying the last few words of the car name. Not all vehicles are a 100% exact fit to their real life counterparts; they are simply
the ones that resemble the in-game version the most that is based from what we found in our 250+ hours of researching, analyzing and
comparing the cars from the ones in the game to the ones in real life.

stored in the garage and can be used freely at anytime in both Story Mode and Free Ride mode.
(3) All 54 vehicles in the game (including the unused Parry Betting Office and Smith Thrower) now all appear in the
Carcyclopedia. The vanilla game didn't allow all cars to be shown in the Carcyclopedia.
(4) All 54 vehicles in the game are now driveable (e.g. the Parry Betting Office was undriveable in the vanilla game.)
(5) All vehicles in the game now appear in traffic (with a few exceptions listed below) in both Story Mode and Free Ride
mode, including the unused Parry Betting Office truck and the one-time-only used Bulworth Sentry van.
- Smith Moray
This vehicle only started its production in 1955-1957 in real life.
- Smith Thrower
This vehicle only started its production in 1955-1957 in real life.
- Waybar Concept
The design and aesthetic of this motorcycle looks too futuristic to the look and feel of
1930's Lost Heaven Empire Bay or the 1930's in general. Plus, you're supposed to only unlock
this vehicle through a Free Ride Mode-exclusive mission.
- Manta Prototype
Same issue with the Waybar Concept, but add the fact that there's only one (1) copy
of this car that was ever produced in real life.
- Brubaker Forte
It's a race track car that's supposed to only be used in the race track.
Don't see any reason of adding this car in traffic whatsoever.
- Carozella C-Series
It's a race track car that's supposed to only be used in the race track.
Don't see any reason of adding this car in traffic whatsoever.
- Haverley Tomahawk (Black Cats)
It's a DLC-exclusive vehicle and thus, it should only be available to you.
- Crazy Horse
It's a vehicle that can only be unlocked through a Free Ride-exclusive mission.
Also, having hot rods in traffic looks game-breaking and just feels wrong.
- Smith V-12 Chicago
It's a DLC-exclusive vehicle and thus, it should only be available to you.
- Disorder
It's a race track car that's supposed to only be used in the race track.
Don't see any reason of adding this car in traffic whatsoever.
- Flame Spear
It's a race track car that's supposed to only be used in the race track.
Don't see any reason of adding this car in traffic whatsoever.
- Haverley Tomahawk P
This vehicle will only appear when you gain a 2 star or higher wanted level from the cops.
- Mutagen
It's a race track car that's supposed to only be used in the race track.
Don't see any reason of adding this car in traffic whatsoever.
- Samson Drifter
It's a DLC-exclusive vehicle and thus, it should only be available to you.
- Shubert Frigate
It's a DLC-exclusive vehicle and thus, it should only be available to you.
- Shubert Luxe Detective
This vehicle will only start to appear when you get a 4-star or higher wanted level
from the cops. The Shubert Six Detective is replaced by this vehicle starting from the
1933's era and onwards.
- Shubert Six Detective
This vehicle will only start to appear when you get a 4-star or higher wanted level
from the cops. Get this vehicle before the Story Mode mission "A Trip To The Country".
(6) Traffic Variety is as realistic as it can possibly be but it is also VERY lore-friendly.
All cars STRICTLY only start to spawn in traffic in the specific years their real car name suggests. For instance,
you won't see the 1934 Chrysler Airflow aka Culver Airmaster appear in traffic during the 1933 or earlier eras
of the game in Story Mode. Once a car starts spawning in traffic, they will continue to appear in all other
proceeding years (a 1932 car will continue to appear in the 1933 era, 1935 era, and the 1938 era of Story Mode).
Some vehicles will appear in traffic much earlier than the specific year their real car name suggests in both Story
Mode and Free Ride Mode:
- Parry Bus - Starts appearing in traffic during the 1930's era. This vehicle is literally the only bus-type vehicle
in the game. Plus, buses were a thing way before the 1930's.
- Shubert Luxe - Starts appearing in traffic during the 1933's era. they appear as early as the 1933 era of Story Mode
because I can't seem to find a way as to how to change the police vehicles that spawn that patrol
the city and the ones that spawn during various wanted levels. Also, in the 1933 era Story Mode
mission "A Trip To The Country", Ralph sends you off to a warehouse by giving you a Shubert Luxe to use.
Again, this is to make the mod lore-friendly.
- Shubert Luxe Taxi - Starts appearing in traffic during the 1933's era. they appear as early as the 1933 era of
Story Mode because I can't seem to find a way as to how to change the police vehicles that
spawn that patrol the city and the ones that spawn during various wanted levels. Also, in
the 1933 era Story Mode mission "A Trip To The Country", Ralph sends you off to a warehouse
by giving you a Shubert Luxe to use. Again, this is to make the mod lore-friendly.
- Shubert Luxe Police - They appear as early as the 1933 era of Story Mode because I can't seem to find a way as to
how to change the police vehicles that spawn that patrol the city and the ones that spawn
during various wanted levels. Also, in the 1933 era Story Mode mission "A Trip To The Country", Ralph sends you
off to a warehouse by giving you a Shubert Luxe to use to get there. Again, this is to make the mod lore-friendly.
- Shubert Luxe Detective - Starts appearing in traffic during the 1933's era but ONLY WHEN YOU GET A 4 STAR
OR HIGHER WANTED LEVEL. They appear as early as the 1933 era of Story Mode because I
can't seem to find a way as to how to change the police vehicles that spawn that
patrol the city and the ones that spawn during various wanted levels. Also, in the
1933 era Story Mode mission "A Trip To The Country", Ralph sends you off to a
warehouse by giving you a Shubert Luxe to use to get there.
Again, this is to make the mod lore-friendly.
- Shubert Six - They appear as early as the 1930 era of Story Mode because you are literally driving a
Shubert Six in the prologue mission "An Offer You Can't Refuse".
Again, this is to make the mod lore-friendly.
- Shubert Six Taxi - They appear as early as the 1930 era of Story Mode because you are literally driving a
Shubert Six in the prologue mission "An Offer You Can't Refuse".
Again, this is to make the mod lore-friendly.
- Shubert Six Police - They appear as early as the 1930 era of Story Mode because you are literally driving a
Shubert Six in the prologue mission "An Offer You Can't Refuse".
Again, this is to make the mod lore-friendly.
- Shubert Six Detective - Starts appearing in traffic during the 1930's era but ONLY WHEN YOU GET A 4 STAR OR HIGHER
WANTED LEVEL. They appear as early as the 1930 era of Story Mode because you are literally driving a
Shubert Six in the prologue mission "An Offer You Can't Refuse".
Again, this is to make the mod lore-friendly.
- Haverley Tomahawk - Starts appearing in traffic during the 1930's era. It's the only motorcycle available to the public in the game.
- Haverley Tomahawk P - Starts appearing in traffic during the 1930's era but ONLY WHEN YOU GET A 2 STAR OR HIGHER
WANTED LEVEL. It's the only motorcycle available to the public in the game and
thus, the police version should be available as well.
- Bolt Mail - Starts appearing in traffic during the 1930's era. It's the only mail delivery-type vehicle in the game.
- Bolt Hearse - Starts appearing in traffic during the 1930's era. It's the only funeral-type vehicle in the game.
- Celeste Mark 5 - Starts appearing in traffic during the 1932's era. It appears during the cutscene with
Don Morello and Joey Crackers set in the 1932 era.
- Bolt V8 - Starts appearing in traffic during the 1930's era. It appears during the 1930's era Story Mode
mission "Molotov Party" where it can be found parked facing the gates in Salieri's Bar, right
before you meet Vincenzo for the very first time.
- Bolt Delivery - it's the only delivery-type car sedan available in the game.
- Bolt Delivery Ambulance - ambulance services are always needed, regardless of the year. It is also the only
ambulance-type vehicle available in the game.
- Smith V-12 - starts appearing in traffic during the 1930's era. It's the car used by the Morello thug that you will
chase during the Story Mode mission "Ordinary Routine".
- Houston Coupe - starts appearing in traffic during the 1933's era. Though the car appears
in much earlier eras in the game (the opening cutscene of the Story Mode mission "An Offer You Can't Refuse" set in
the 1930's era where you see a White car parked in the distance moments after Tommy closes the car door upon exiting
his taxi for a quick smoke break, the opening cutscene of the Story Mode Mission "Sarah" set in the 1932's era where the
car makes its very-short-and-easy-to-miss appearance that is located and parked right in front of Salieri's bar while talking
to Luigi, and during the opening cutscene of the Story Mode mission "A Trip To The Country", particularly, the Turquoise Blue
car that you see right before Tommy crosses the street to get to Salieri's Bar), it's looks much better and more fitting for
it to appear in the 1933's era in the long run, just in time for the Shubert Luxe to replace the Shubert Six in traffic.
- Lassiter V-16 Sedan - starts appearing in traffic during the 1930's era. The car appears during the opening
cutscene of the prologue Story Mode mission "An Offer You Can't Refuse", particularly
the car that fires a Tommy Gun at Paulie & Sam and also the same vehicle that got
its tires shot by Paulie and crashes afterwards.
All vehicles should appear at a balanced amount. No one (1) or two (2) cars will appear too often but it can still VERY rarely
happen due to the game's algorithm as to when and how often a vehicle spawns in traffic. I can't really control that.
It also depends on what specific year era (1930, 1932, 1933, 1935, and 1938) you are playing in in Story Mode.
Fewer cars will appear in traffic during the 1930 era and 1932 era so it may make some vehicles spawn more often.
Again, I cannot control this since it's the game algorithm that does that. Lastly, throughout my testing of the
realistic traffic variety in both Story Mode and Free Ride Mode, I observed that the game has a limit on how many
vehicles of the same type ("type" = delivery cars, delivery trucks, luxury cars, regular cars etc.) can spawn at one time.
For instance, for delivery trucks, you may see the Parry Bus, Parry Betting Office, and Bolt Truck spawn in traffic but
not the Hank A Truck and Bulworth Packhound, which are vehicles that also belong on the delivery trucks category. Same applies
to the other car type categories. Think of it as a rotational shift where a randomized batch of cars of the same car type category
will spawn first and will stay that way for a while before another randomized batch of that same car type category will spawn
that replaces the previous batch, with at least one (1) of the cars from the previous batch having a probability to also be
one of the cars present in the next batch. That's how the traffic behavior works in this game. Unfortunately, I cannot control this since
it's the game algorithm that does that.
(7) All vehicles that appear in traffic in both Story Mode and Free Ride mode now only appear in the specific
neighborhoods that they are supposed to appear in.
- All sports cars and luxurious cars will only mostly appear in urban areas like Downtown, Oakwood, Central Island,
and Beech Hill.
- All trucks, industrial vehicles, and buses will appear more often in the industrial and poorer parts of Lost Heaven like
Little Italy, Holbrook, Works Quarter, North Park, Chinatown, and the Countryside / city outskirts. All delivery vehicles
and taxi vehicles can appear anywhere by default but they now appear in the Countryside / city outskirts as well
(all except the Bolt Ace Pickup since it's not realistic for that vehicle to travel far and wide into the Countryside
/ city outskirts but it may still appear there).
- The Bulworth Sentry now appears in traffic and can be found anywhere, including the Countryside / city outskirts.
It can be found everywhere except Oakwood and Beech Hill. Although it is a police vehicle by design, think of it
as an armored van that drives around carrying precious cargo such as money that will be deposited in the bank or a
transport for prisoners. It appears in the Countryside / city outskirts not only because they carry precious cargo
or transporting VIPs and prisoners alike, but also because it says "Border Patrol" on it so it would only make
sense for the vehicle to appear in the far corners of the map as well and not just in the city. I don't know how
to change what vehicles the police use for normal patrols and during various wanted levels since I really tried to
but to no avail and thus, I decided to make them appear as civilian cars instead.
- All other regular vehicles like the Shubert Six, Shubert Luxe, Bolt Ace, Haverley Tomahawk etc. can practically appear
anywhere in the map.
(8) With all these features, it is possible to get almost all vehicles in the game through Story Mode alone.
The only vehicles you can't get in Story Mode are
Smith Moray
Smith Thrower
Waybar Concept
Manta Prototype
Brubaker Forte
Carozella C-Series
Crazy Horse
Disorder
Flame Spear
Mutagen
because they all require you to complete a Free Ride Mode-exclusive mission.
======================CHANGELOG =====================
1.0.0 - 2021-4-15
Initial version. Most names are changed. Supported languages are CZ, DE, EN and RU.
1.0.0-EXT - 2021-4-21
Same as above, but with garage extension and more traffic variety.
1.0.1 - 2021-4-21
Fixed having a wrong file in the "for_manual_patching" folder. No functional changes.
1.1.0 - 2021-5-3
Added release years to most models. Further changed some manufacturer and model names
as they only fit M1 but not M1DE for example.
2.0.0 - 2021-6-4
Fixed and improved car names. Mod now includes Ultra Realistic but lore-friendly traffic variety,
all cars appearing in Carcyclopedia, and all cars being storeable in garage.
2.0.1 - 2021-6-16
Fixed "Black Cats" outfit UI display in Wardrobe selection menu.
2.1.0 - 2021-6-19
- Houston Coupe will now start to spawn in traffic in the 1933 era instead of the
1935 era due to its very-short-and-easy-to-miss appearance in the opening cutscene of the
Story Mode mission "A Trip To The Country", particularly, the Turquoise Blue car that you see
right before Tommy crosses the street to get to Salieri's Bar. Again, this to make
the realistic traffic variety lore-friendly. (my apologies since I only noticed
this now ahhh >_<)
- Culver Airmaster is now a LUXURY class car instead of a REGULAR class car due to its
rarity and special properties like waterproofing, tire-blowout proofing (a very early attempt on
making bulletproof tires during the 1930's in real life) and reinforced glass windows in real life.
Changing the car to LUXURY class simply means that the car will now appear mostly only in urban areas
like Downtown, Oakwood, Central Island, and Beech Hill.
- Further fixes and improvements in car names.
3.0.0 - 2021-6-20
- The Bulworth Sentry now spawns in traffic in the correct era (1930's).
- Finalized fixes and improvements in car names and all aspects of the mod
in general.
3.1.0 - 2021-6-20
- Spent a whole day's worth of re-researching, double-checking and verifying the real life car names of
all 54 vehicles in the mod to see if each and every real life car name truly is the best real life counterpart
out there. Everything is great as it is except the Lassiter V-16 Roadster since I found a better model for it,
thus updating its name. Since the year of its real car name was changed (from the
previous year of 1930 to the newly updated year of 1931), the Lassiter V-16 Roadster
will now only start to spawn in traffic in the 1932 era.
3.1.1 - 2021-6-25
- Further specified the real life car name for the Bolt V-8.
- Added new version of the Custom Edition version that is EXACTLY THE SAME BUT WITHOUT THE "Playstation Icons" mod
upon a user's request.
=====================INSTALLATION=====================
* Best Case: You have no other mods that change the same .sds files.
Copy the sds_retail folder and its contents into your Mafia Definitive Edition main
directory and overwrite existing files.
* Not so ideal: You have a mod that changed these specific files.
Unpack the currently used .sds files and patch them manually with "Mafia Toolkit".
hud_vehicle_info.gfx in /gui/ingame_gui.sds
menu_carcyclopedia.gfx in /gui/shared_gui.sds
vehicles_game_group.xbin in /tables/tables.sds
stringtable_XX_common_group.xml in /string_tables/stringtable_XX.sds
* Worst Case: You have a mod installed that changed the very same files IN the .sds
Basically you'd have to manually redo all the changes in the .xbin files.
If you have requests to merge or remove a particular mod in this mod, feel free to personally message cloakedcollective.
=====================HOW IT WORKS=====================
* The cars model names are stored in the string tables and can be replaced there.
Some manufacturer names are also there. They don't affect what is shown in the
UI most of the times however.
* The cars manufacturer name displayed when entering a car or in the carcyclopedia
is stored as vector graphic in:
/gui/ingame_gui.sds/gui/hud_vehicle_info.gfx
/gui/shared_gui.sds/gui/menu_carcyclopedia.gfx
Use "JPEXS Free Flash Decompiler" to export and import the graphics.
The graphics itself are best changed with "Inkscape". Convert all objects to path
and then save as "Optimized SVG" with most boxes ticked for best compatibility.
* vehicles_game_group.xbin "ties" the vehicles together. It defines a cars brand
for example. If you'd like to have a car show up as another brand, you'll have
to change "LogoNameUI" and "BrandNameUI".
