Hey man, I have copied and pasted my save game from one PC to another. When I try to start up the save to the new pc I get a warning "Load failed. The content (Renegade Pack, Greaser pack) is missing, although the game was saved with this content. Please unlock the content to load the game". I thought this mod could help, but with no luck. I have followed the instructions but still getting this error. Any advice?
Do you have Mafia 2 Classic or Mafia 2 Definitive Edition? I'm pretty sure that you has Mafia 2 Classic, because Mafia 2 Definitive Edition comes with these packs mentioned by you. The title of the modification clearly states that DLC Unlocker is intended for Mafia 2 Definitive Edition.
In may 2020 2K released Mafia 2 Definitive Edition (remaster) on steam and Epic Games Store, original Mafia 2 Classic (2010) has been separated and depleted from the packs.
If I'm right that you have Mafia 2 Classic then to play with previous savegame you need to download these packs and install crack. If I'm wrong and you really has Mafia 2 Definitive Edition then cnt_greaser and cnt_rebel_without_a_cause folders are missing from your installation.
Hey, I got it working again. Apparently. the unlock happens somewhere in the game core and not in the save file. I was at chapter 12. But the DLC's I mention unlock at chapter 7 and 8. Info: https://mafiagame.fandom.com/wiki/Renegade_Pack https://mafiagame.fandom.com/wiki/Greaser_Pack
I could not start chapter 7, so I started to play from chapter 6 (prison level, don't remember the chapter name) and started playing till I hit chapter 9. After that, I closed the game. Back-up the current save. Replaced it with my first playthrough at chapter 12. Booted the game up, and it worked.
Its like the game error mentioned. 'Unlock', not that it is not downloaded or something. Its just super weird that it doesn't unlock if you try to boot up a save file that unlocked it already. Maybe you can take a look at it with a existing save file, just reinstall mafia II ED. try to start with the existing save (after chapter 8) and you will get the same problem. Would be nice to have a separate mod for this kind of issue. Not sure if there are other DLC's locked at a later chapter. First time playing.

Got the same problem and solved it the same way. If there would be a mod for this it would be nice. Actually, it was not 100% the same cause of the problem. I did log in with another Steam account and the game opens a new game save then. I logged back onto mine and again, another save file. I copied my save files in the new folder but got the same problem. I now save my game save folder after quiting the game, but I dont know if thats enough. So a mod to fix this securely would be nice. Thank you anyway.

I have Mafia 2 Definitive Edition. I reinstalled the game (without the mod now). Still the same error :/
Make sure your dlcs folder looks like this:
?I don't know, I've never encountered something like that. Maybe the save was made on some other version of the game.

The files are in both categories because I published this mod at time when Mafia 2 Definitive Edition category didn't exist on nexusmods.
