About this mod

By default, the player's starting Legion Arm displays a rusty and dull texture, unlike in early iterations and concept arts, which show a polished Legion Arm.
This mod aims to change that by replacing the default Legion Arm's textures with the polished textures already in the game.

About the Mod - Context

Hi all, this is "my" first mod attempt, though simple, it achieves the intended result.

After playing for a while and seeing some Lies of P content outside of the game, I've noticed that from the main character's concept art and even up to a render of the main character, their Legion Arm is not quite the same as the one that has landed in the retail version of the game ― displaying a rusty and dull appearance, with signs of wear & tear.

Polished Legion Arm* can be briefly seen in the attached gif.
*Unused model!

Although we do see its polished texture used in other Legion Arms, such as the Puppet String or Deus Ex Machina, their attachments make it difficult to appreciate the far more polished and maintained look of the base arm ― which is why I've sought to make this mod ― to, in a simple manner, appreciate the assets that the developers have carefully made, without any clutter.

I initially wanted to remove the Puppet String's Harpoon/Needle Launcher mesh for the sake of preserving the rusty look of the default Legion Arm, but due to my lack of experience with Unreal Engine modding (coming from a background of simply retexturing "albedo" textures .vtfs in Source Engine), I went with the Default Legion Arm instead*.
*Updated: Added replacement for the Puppet String
*11/03/2025 Update: Added replacements for all currently available Legion Arms

Installation - How to Use the Mod
(Steam)

  • Extract the .zip folder, this will extract the .pak file.
  • Head to Steam\steamapps\common\Lies of P\LiesofP\Content\Paks\~mods
  • (If there isn't a "~mods" folder present in the Paks directory, create a new folder and name it accordingly)
  • Insert the .pak file in the ~mods folder.

Unfortunately, I don't have Gamepass, so I don't know how to install mods in the Gamepass version, but the process should be very similar.

Closure

This is "my" first mod for Unreal Engine, and I hope you enjoy!

Acknowledgements/Thanks

@onimare for making the mod actually work! I'd be stuck in a loop banging my head against a wall trying to make the mod work if they hadn't helped.
