About this mod

Had enough with so many Mandalorian mods yet? Well, this mod focuses more on Bendak Starkiller and we dont have many mods that focus on this specific Mandalorian we get to see in the first Knights of the Old Republic game on the planet of Taris. Bendaks role really wasnt huge, but it left an impact because he is the toughest opponent you face in the dueling arena on Taris. Some will shy away from a duel with him; not because hes tough, but because you do get dark side points for fighting him and if youre a true servant of the light, you wont kill for personal gain and glory. Despite what you do with the Bendak situation, this mod changes the way he looks and you will see him no matter what you do in your game. So if you like the new changes to Bendak, investing in this mod would be a smart thing. Personally I think it looks better than that yellow armor that BioWare put him in and it does give you a nice visual of him being a little tougher. The TSL Patcher does install this mod as the author did add a new line to the appearance.2da file and I would not try to install this mod manually unless you know what youre doing if you want it to work properly. Ive noticed lately going through some of the comments on the mods where people have complained about certain problems which I can tell by the description of it that they didnt use the TSL Patcher. Its not that difficult to do if you just listen to me. There is a file called Starkillers Reskin +armor.exe file. Double-click that file. You will be asked to locate where you want this file to be installed at. Find the place where you have installed your Knights of the Old Republic game. Click on the SWKotOR folder, not the override folder. Once you have done that, have it install and bingo its ready to use. Im hoping those who have had problems understanding how this whole thing works is reading this and has learned something they need to know. Enjoy! Note: Please leave the author feedback, especially if you download this mod and use it. It really helps encourage the author to make more mods in the future. -Shem

Wow, I can't believe it's been two years since the original release. Heh.

Anyway, this mod adds a little bit of minor content to add some flavor to the game, centered around Bendak Starkiller. Bendak has been given a custom reskin to make him more unique. It also creates Bendak Starkillers Assault Armor, a new heavy armor that will definately offer a boost at that point in the game. It is fully upgradable, and allows you to take the appearance of Bendak himself (in addition, in the upgrade window, there is a texture that somewhat matches). Bendak will also use this armor against you in the Taris Dueling Ring in place of the armor he usually wears, just to keep you on your toes. But that's not all; after you kill Bendak and go to collect the bounty, there are new dialogue options in-game that allows you, the player, to collect this armor (you won't get the bounty, but you're getting something 3-4x that, so you can't complain much =P).

Update History

----------------

1.0 to 1.5:

-Added compatibility to Brotherhood of Shadow mod (by Silveredge9) by changing the skin's name (as well as the appearance.2da entry) to something more unique.

-Instead of the original desaturated skin, Bendak now has a darker bodysuit, with a red/gray armor plating scheme. The whites on the armor are also more white and less gray. It's also a little beat up on the front and back; in 100 death matches, there must have been -some- wear-n-tear.

-The inventory icon and upgrade window skins have been altered to use images in the likeness of Mandalorian signature armor.

Installation

--------------

Extract the mod from the .zip file you just downloaded.

From there, click on the TSLPatcher icon and follow the instructions provided.

In the years I've been playing KotOR, Bendak seemed like someone who should be recognizable, but at first sight, he could hide in a crowd of generic yellow Mandalorians with ease. I have gotten a little bit better with Photoshop, hence the new skin. It's not glorious, but I figure that it adds that additional flare (what's more menacing, pure pale gray or a good splash of blood red? =P).

Just recently, I noticed that this mod was incompatible with the Brotherhood of Shadow due to a similar .2da entry and use of identical texture names. It has since been fixed by making the names and lines unique (even if it is a year late ^^;;).

Bugs/Notes

------------

For best results, use a save file before you enter the Upper City Cantina, otherwise you are going to be dealing with the usual yellow Bendak. If you want the armor, then you want to be at a point before you collect his bounty.

As it stands, it is compatibile with WotOR, as well as the Brotherhood of Shadow. Since the Patcher applies GFF editing, it can be compatible with just about any other mod that does not directly overwrite Zax's dialogue file or Bendak himself. If you find something that isn't compatible, let me know.
