Probably FAR too late for this response to gain any traction but the installer does work mod-to-mod. It's entirely asinine but it does work.
What you must do is:
1. Download the mod you want to use requiring the TSL Patcher, for my example I am using the Kotor Restoration Mod.
2. Download the TSL Patcher if you haven't already.
3. The TSL Patcher requires that you have a 'tslpatcherdata' folder in the same location as the TSLPatcher.exe. So extract ALL of the TSLPatcher folder that you downloaded into the Mod folder containing 'tslpatcherdata'.
For Kotor Restoration, that will be the mod folder you've extracted off of 7zip/winRAR. Or K1R_1.2.
4. After K1R_1.2 contains both a folder labeled 'tslpatcherdata' (which it should have come with, as should any mod using TSLPatcher) and TSLPatcher.exe, go ahead and run TSLPatcher.exe
The patcher should automatically detect the mod and then ask you to locate the game file. (Not sure where it is for non-steam users but for me it was: (G:/SteamLibrary/steamapps/common/swkotor).
Then simply select the game file and the Patcher should apply the mod. Pure Pazaak!
Sincerely hope this helps anyone dealing with these terrible patcher shenanigans down the road. Game is too good and nostalgic not to work properly.
Also worth noting if, after installing a mod like Kotor Restoration, make sure you correct your resolution and disable the 'Frame Buffer' option in advanced options before starting or you will become prone to crashing immediately like I had far too often before realizing the error.
This came at the perfect time for me, and was very specifically about the same mod I'm planning to install. Thanks very much for returning! Wholeheartedly agree that this game is phenomenal and the hard work by modders is extremely appreciated.
Do I understand correctly that I am supposed to drop the "tslpatcherdata" folder into the Patcher folder each time I want to install a mod that requires it? That means, each time overriding the files of already installed mod? Or should I be changing files' names, so they won't be overridden? Because I'm confused, even with your explanation. :((

So there are a lot of mods on here that require TSL patcher to function, namely the most popular which is Brotherhood of Shadows. And since this seems to be the easier method than simply copying them over, I tried for the last two hours to try and get this thing to work.
Maybe I'm missing something here. I am no programmer by any means, but these instructions haven't helped me in the slightest. I just don't understand what I'm doing wrong. And since nobody gives enough of a damn to actually put up a tutorial for how to install this thing, step by step, here I stand hoping to get a hold of someone who at least can install it properly.
I recently tried reinstalling all my mods for this game and ran into the same problem. I realized that TSL patcher is not actually a tool for us mod USERS to use, it is actually for mod CREATORS. Basically, mod creators will make an executable using TSL patcher that, when ran, installs the mod correctly for you. This executable will be found in the desired mod.
Example, I was trying to figure out how to use TSL patcher to install the kotor restoration mod and realized all I had to do was open the Restoration mod and run the installer. If you are doing the same as me, you'll notice TSL patcher and the Restoration mod installer .exe have the same icon, that was the first tip off to my realization. I'm currently tinkering more, and will let you know if I find anything else pertinent. Good luck out there.
Ok so now what? im trying to install mods for this game but I cant use TSL patcher. doesnt work. I had this before wayyyyy back when I had the actual game for PC. I have it now on steam since I cant play with disc on newer windows. Anyone have any idea what to do now???
Believe me, most people arent interested in creating a proper Tutorial. Only consumption and done! I will post a tutorial if i got figuring out how to use that "replacing" feature. I was able to add new Rows with the patcher but the mod still not works!? (F@C#!N%)
If you are using the mod mod manager Vortex and its saying you need the TSLPatcher tool you dont. Right click on the mod in vortex and select "Unpack (as-is)". Hope this helps
I feel really stupid asking this question, but I am a bit new to this. So this download is a mod installer just for KOTOR? Like Vortex is, but only for this game? Or is this only for specific installations? I tried to find this answer because I wanted to avoid looking like such an ignorant noob, but I did not have any luck. I find the description confusing. I was hoping just to use Vortex to load my mods, as manual installation is rather tedious to me personally if you plan on installing many mods, however, I have been reading here in the Nexus forums and on Reddit that Vortex still has a lot of issues and is not a very effective method of correctly installing mods in certain titles. Whenever I have used it in the past, it always seemed to work okay, although, some of the mods never took effect and I had to manually install some of them, it can get messy. But I really only care about KOTOR in this circumstance.
If anyone has a brief moment, can you tell me if this is a one stop solution to modifying KOTOR, or is it only for certain specific tasks? I really appreciate any information or advice anyone can offer, thanks so much.
Yeah Im stuck in the same boat,also. I've run into mods I'd like to use but they instruct me to use the TSLpatcher with the mod and I just downloaded the file, read through it, and have no idea on how to use it with any mods.
Yeah, kind of thinking it wasn't the wisest idea to have a bot account upload this. This seems like some pretty old software that wasn't really designed for your average joe to use and the readme isn't really all that useful. You've got people that don't know how to use it, don't know how to install it and have no clue how to use it for their own mods. Might be one of those things better off installed from the source, in this case DeadlyStream, that's where most of the Star-Wars modding scene is at and it's pretty active still.
I don't know if they host this tool specifically, probably do, but I'd be willing to bet a million creds that the the users over there could answer all these questions

But then they'll be overridden with unaltered copy oO is there some mistake or what?
