DESCRIPTION:

Changes vanilla textures to 4x AI upscaled with hand made improvements.
Why use my mod instead some other mod?
Because in this mod almost all game textures are upscaled.
Most of them are tweaked by hand (cleaned and improved).
All alpha channels in textures were checked and copied to new textures.
In the final (v1.0) release almost all game textures (all except GUI, icons, effects and etc. which have problems when extracted or have no benefit from
upscaling whatsoever) are replaced with upgraded ones. Current version (v1.1) has more than 2300 textures!
Give a fresh look for this beloved game with this all-in-one HD texture replacement!

INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS:

Backup C:\Steam\steamapps\common\swkotor\Override folder.
Extract contents of this archive to swkotor\Override folder (create
one if it does not exist).

HOW TO UPDATE:

Just overwrite old files with new files from new version in swkotor/Override
folder (only for 0.8TGAOnly and up!).

Updating from v0.8 is at your own risk (it uses .tpc files, which are glitchy). Better download v0.8TGAOnly and update from it (by adding new files from new versions)!

UNINSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS:

Delete mod files (easiest way is to overwrite files and then delete).

OPTIONAL:

Best method I found so far to mitigate black lines and to combat antialiasing is to disable MSAA completely and use Reshade
SMAA + FXAA + Lumasharpen.
You could also use GLOveride, but it does not work well with FXAA.

Perform Nvidia Inspector SGSSAA tweak to minimaze visible texture
seams and improve image clarity and antialiasing by changing tese options:

Antialiasing - Mode: Override any application setting
Antialiasing - Setting: 8xQ [8x Multisampling]
Antialiasing - Transperancy Supersampling: 8x Sparse Grid Supersampling
Texture Filtering - Driver Controled LOD Bias On
Texture Filtering - LOD Bias (DX) -0.375 (-0.125 for less texture shimmering)
Texture Filtering - LOD Bias (OGL) -0.375 (-0.1250 for less texture shimmering)
Texture Filtering - Negative LOD Bias Allow
Texture Filtering - Quality High Quality

With modern GPU it should not drop framerates a lot.

P.S. If you wish to avoid texture shimmering as much as possible leave
Texture Filtering - LOD Bias (DX) and Texture Filtering - LOD Bias (OGL)
at their default values (0.000) 

P.S.S. Toggle FXAA on or off to On in Nvidia Inspector also works well and helps cleaning jaggies.
Note that it blurs image a bit, so LOD bias of -0.375 or more should be used (personal preference).


If you are experiencing black face line issues and similar and don't want to use SGSSAA method above 
(SGSSAA clears most of these issues) disable MSAA antialiasing altogether and don't use SGSSAA or you can try this method described here:

Download GLOverride http://www.humus.name/index.php?page=Cool&ID=5
and change FixClamp = 0 to FixClamp = 1 in opengl32.ini (does not help much with MSAA enabled).

Also in the same file you an change ForceAlphaToCoverage = 0 to ForceAlphaToCoverage = 1.
This will fix grass and grass will be rendered properly (it is game engine issue and is also present in unmodded game, not the mod's).

Note that using ForceAlphaToCoverage = 1 with MSAA antialiasing you will see dithering (dotted look) on transparent textures, mostly on GUI 
elements.

You could also try GLOverride combined with Reshade SMAA for antialiasing. Although I do not know the way how to combine both.
So use GLOverride with SGSSAA or MSAA to mitigate visible lines on models and fix grass for the time being unless dithering (dotted transparency look) is bothering you.

COMMENTS:

Will not be compatible with any mods that change same textures.

Fully compatible with Kotor 1 Restoration 1.2, although patch is recommended (which is provided in download section) as few files are overwritten by my mod (or by K1R if installed after), such as Exar Kun's armor and Scoundrel clothes. In a patch I made my upscaled textures for Exar Kun's armor darker, so they look more closely to ones used in K1R (but not all black). Couple other textures are for those who installed K1R (which adds Scoundrel clothes in lower resolution) after my mod. K1R textures look same as vanilla (Scoundrel ones) so I provided (in a patch) same ones (upscaled) used in this mod to overwrite K1R lower resolution ones. Other than that it is fully compatible.

improved overall texture fidelity and look. Incorporated
SKTR_PMHA05 AlphaFix into main archive. 
v0.3 - Added NPC heads.
v0.4 - Added party heads and Zaalbar. Made some tweaks to eyes to mitigate
some visible seam lines and weirdness caused by upscaling process.
v0.5 - added NPCs and female player armors/outfits. Fixed "N_XorH" alpha channel.
Incorporated 0.4TGA into main version (TGA files for heads, to mitigate some compression issues).
v0.6 - Added male player armors/outfits. Added weapons and lightsaber beams.
v0.7 - Added creatures, droids, planets, sky, space and big textures of some ships.
v0.79Revised - Revised all textures that were released before with different upscaling method, which should look more clean and detailed.
Added ships, items and some other textures. Changed heads from TGA format to TPC, because it did not have desired results regarding face lines and only used more space.
v0.8 - Added a set of more textures, such as ground, floor, walls, doors and etc.
v0.8 TGA Only - This version tries to avoid any seams and/or graphical glitches due to "hard-coded" txi info and/or transparency glitches due to buggy
conversion software.
v0.9 - Added more textures.
v1.0 - Final release. Added 395 more textures. Only bug fixing left.
v1.1 - Added 85 more textures (swoop GUI elements, some effects, crowd and etc.). Added missing alpha channel for Sith Apprentice (like one you meet on
Taris). Removed file causing crash upon entering Sith base.

BUGS/ISSUES
Some weird transparency issues on some textures where .tpc files are used.
Use .tga version instead. Use non .tga version only if you are ok with some visual glitches and don't want to download much.
