We are currently performing essential maintenance on the notifications system of the website, as a result, you may notice that all of your notifications prior to 12:00 pm GMT(+1) today are no longer showing in the notifications drop-down menu or the notifications page. Our web developers are working on restoring old notifications, however, we are not yet sure if this is going to be possible. We understand this isn't ideal for many users who rely on the site notifications and would like to humbly apologise for the inconvenience this may have caused.
What has happened?
Following several reports from the community relating to notifications not working, our team discovered that due to the sheer amount of information stored in the site notifications database we've hit some limits which require manual intervention to overcome.
So that users can continue to use the site properly during the maintenance we've shifted all the data to a different part of the database, resulting in a "clean slate" for notifications. Our web team are now focusing on trying to re-import this old data but there may be technical challenges that make this impossible.
How long will it take?
Regular notifications are already working again, however, it is difficult to give any kind of timescale on the older notifications until we know more. We will post updates on our progress in the comments section of this article as more information becomes available.
What are you doing to prevent this problem from reoccurring?
The good news is, we have already been working on a massive overhaul of the notifications system for a while now. When complete, we will have a much better platform to build on, which will enable us to provide new types of notification and give you all better control over which ones you want to see.
Update 2020/10/08 09:58 GMT(+1): We have finished importing the old notifications. This issue is now closed.
Update 2020/10/06 14:45 GMT(+1): The import is going well, we're almost done restoring the notifications!
Update 2020/10/02 17:20 GMT(+1): We are now re-importing the old notifications in batches with the following restrictions:
The notification is no older than 3 months.
The user who owns the notification has been active in the last 3 months.
You may see some duplication of your current items if the script is running for your account as you get a new notification. This is safe to ignore.
Update 2020/09/30 17:20 GMT(+1): We are currently testing our fix for the notifications to ensure that we can safely attempt to import the old entries.
Update 2020/09/27 20:20 GMT(+1): The fix appears to have worked. Hot files and tracking notifications are confirmed to be working again. Please report any further problems you see.
Update 2020/09/27 18:43 GMT(+1): We are currently trying a fix for the tracking notifications, hot files page and game home page feeds which all seem to be caused by the same server issue.
Update 2020/09/26 12:04 GMT(+1): There appears to be a problem with notifications from tracked mods and the Hot Files page at the moment, we are aware of the issue and are working on a solution.
can you guys add an option to turn off site notifications? dont need a notif everytime u guys add some unknown indie game i've no interest in playing ever.
Well my notification list was already hundreds if not thousands of notifications long, so there was little chance I'd go back and dig through all of it. I understand how difficult this kind of stuff is, and as a casual user/lurker, it's ok if those old notifications of mine get lost.
Perhaps you're right. I'm starting to get today's notifications. Still with a serious delay tho. The only way to know for sure is to wait I guess. If there will be no notifications of the recent activity witin next 5 hours, it will be safe to say that the issue is still there.
Well, I guess MY comment got you in gear... lol Seems to be back in working order - if a bit behind (notifications are several days behind). But I'll take that over NOT working at all. Thanks for keeping on top of things, and addressing them!
That would be completely unrelated to notifications. Please follow the steps outlined in our troubleshooting guide: https://help.nexusmods.com/article/92-im-having-download-issues-what-can-i-do
We'll need all of that information to be able to help.
Well, one thing you need to fix is the virus in the LOOT tool link. Panda antivirus warned me about it. I know it's not a false positive because when I took home the exact same version, same size file from the official page there was no warning, but the one downloaded from nexus was infected with trojan/virus. So that's a thing you really need to look at.
" I know it's not a false positive because when I took home the exact same version..." But you are right, it's off topic, still something you should check up on. It's strange Panda treats it differently depending on where it is downloaded, it seems to be the same file but the one from Nexus triggers warnings.

I missed out on EIGHTEEN Mods being updated.
there is a notification when a tracked mod gets updated ?
How, When ,Why , Where ?
That's what I know about anyway.
You don't have to follow the mod author, just checked.
I got it to work now ( reset my Notification settings )
Thanks
