I have included most mane combinations and colours that are possible(and make sense) per coat but please bear in mind I cannot possibly include every single combination possible. You are welcome to follow the guide linked in the description if you want to further tweak the coats.
Please let me know if you experience any issues or if a combo is not what it is supposed to be, everything should be good but just in case something slipped through the cracks please do let me know.
I've added instructions to the description if you want to add the mod using a mod manager.
If you still do not see the coats in-game it is likely a conflict with another mod using a CharacterComponent.xml that includes the same few lines this mod edits, this might be the case even if a mod does not even effect Herring.
This should be a simple fix luckily:
If not using a mod manager simply rename my mod so that it loads after most other mods you have installed. You can do this by adding a "z_" so it would read "z_blackbeauty_herring"
If using a mod manager simply move this mod lower down the list so that it overwrites any potential lines related to Herring in other mods.
This mod is very lightweight, it only edits the few lines related to Herring's body/coat details and his mane and tail so you should have no issue moving this mod as low as possible.
Would you ever consider doing this for pisek lad? I like getting compliments on my horse. His stats are better than any other, based on what I value. Even considering that, Herring upgrades.
pure black not workin. I fixed it. the manifest was missing the version number and created in date i copied em from the regular black manifest works now
<kcd_mod> <info> <name>Pure-black Herring</name> <modid>black_herring</modid> <description>Herring with a pure black coat</description> <author>Matrinyx</author> <version>1.0</version> <created_on>24/03/2025</created_on> <modifies_level>false</modifies_level> </info></kcd_mod>
Things seem to work on my end, with and without the full manifest. Are you perhaps using a mod manager? It might be the mod manager that needs the full manifest, if so I'll update any coats without it^^
I updated all the coats that needed a manifest update so it should work just fine with mod managers now.
The update made it so the colors don't work but the mane and tail still do. Also there is no feathering option for the braided tail and mane - black beauty - heavy. I would really like to have the black feathering option if possible.
Got a really weird situation here. I wanted Herring to look like Napoli, so I started with the white coat & silver hair version, then followed Invisai's guide to switch the hair to the same color as Napoli's. However, this just turned Herring's hair to his default brown. To be honest, I think white coat & brown hair looks better than Napoli, but I'm still really confused. Even after reinstalling the mod, he still has brown hair (I did a full reinstall; delete then load game, install then load game). Is this an impossible combination for Herring? Thanks for the mod.
Hey congrats on finally getting this released, I know you've been working on it a long time! I'm not going to use it as I'm sticking with Good Old Pebbles, but downloading anyway just so I can throw an endorsement your way. Thanks for your work mate!
