About this mod
Changes archery so it's much less effective in CLOSE combat - but somewhat more effective at longer range, by making the Zoom effect greater and Bow Aim/Charge times faster.

This is essentially a handful of tweaks to the rpg_param_xml file - in an effort to tweak archery more to my personal preferences.
While I adore KCD overall, I definitely didn't enjoy being superman with a bow in close combat. It made very little sense to me how I could defeat multiple enemies with ease using a bow in melee range. In vanilla - they tend to stand around waiting too long to attack, and when they do attack - they don't do much to counteract my arrows to their faces.
So, I decided to do some research and change a few things around.
Here's a brief overview of what's changed:
To enhance close combat challenge with bow:
Enemies attack more frequently when there are more of them.
It's more expensive to aim your bow for the initial shot.
You lose stamina while aiming after a shorter period.
It's slightly more expensive to keep aiming.
I've significantly increased the time it takes before stamina starts to regenerate.
All these combine to a much harder time when dealing with multiple enemies at close range, when using a bow. Which is what makes sense to me - as I don't understand how a realistic combat game could allow me to kill 4-6 skilled combatants at close range without a melee weapon.
Please note that a couple of these changes also affect melee stamina costs - and I haven't tested that very thoroughly yet as I'm not much of a melee guy. It does seem appropriately more challenging though, which could be a nice side-effect - if you're a fan of having to manage stamina a little more, like myself.
To improve long range bow gameplay:
Max Zoom value is much greater.
You start Zooming earlier with Bow skill progression (At 5 instead of 10).
Each skill point has a greater impact on Zoom effect.
Charge/Aim time is reduced based on power of Bow (Overall Bows are around 30-50% faster to fully aim).
Removed Arrow Trails.
Increased Arrow flight speed slightly.
Reduced Arrow gravity slightly.
This makes proper long range archery a bit easier and more in line with how I honestly think a bow should be used in a game like this. Also, it makes Bow skill more fun to level up - as you can feel greater and more effective changes along with it.

Please remember this is strictly based on personal preference - and I'm only uploading the mod in case someone out there feels the same way as I do. It's definitely not what the designers intended, as I've changed a few things very significantly.
Also, this is my first mod ever - and I'm sure there's plenty of room for improvement. I will likely be tweaking it for a while. Also, it's intended for Normal difficulty - and not Hardcore difficulty. I'm not entirely sure what Hardcore changes - so I can't say if it's compatible with that difficulty or not - sorry.
For installation:
Extract content (zzz_alternate_archery directory and its content) to KCD Mods folder \common\KingdomComeDeliverance\Mods.

A few changes, including lower max Zoom (down to 60 - as 80 was a bit much), lower Stam regen delay (down to 2.2 from 3 - as it was a little long before), and a few other tweaks.
I've also decided to extend minimum visibility for Stealth from 2.5 to 4 - so you can't quite stand right in front of people and snipe them in the eye.
