DISCLAIMER: This mod is similar to Ceano's Polearm Fix (https://www.nexusmods.com/kingdomcomedeliverance/mods/582) and functionally the same as Restore Halberds (https://www.nexusmods.com/kingdomcomedeliverance/mods/48). Both Ceano and Nahmy are vastly more competent modders than I am and credit goes to them for the original idea and execution.

However, neither Ceano's Polearm Fix nor Restore Halberds seem to be working with the latest KCD patch 1.7. This mod is intended to be a solution until either modder has a chance to update his mod. I've gotten quite used to having a spear for mounted combat and missed it terribly, and so would others I imagine.

DISCLAIMER 2: Polearms are obscenely powerful (especially my favorite, the Lucerne Hammer). Which is realistic and accurate, but may detract from your personal gaming experience somewhat.

This is a simple mod that does two things:

1. Polearms are treated like primary weapons rather than oversized weapons: you can freely sheathe them, carry them with you, put them in the horse inventory or in a chest. When sheathed, the polearm will not appear anywhere on your character, which I suppose is mildly unrealistic, but so is stuffing an entire plate harness down your pants and equipping it on a moment's notice.

If you do not have a shield equipped, you will carry the polearm on your shoulder when it is unsheathed. If you have a shield equipped, you'll hold it like a regular weapon (which may look somewhat awkward). Out of combat, the polearm will only swing up and down in a rather slow arc. In combat, you can swing and stab with it, but as far as I know you cannot block or parry with it (you can still dodge though). You cannot sprint, either.

2. Polearm skill is now visible in the character sheet. It is NOT a new skill; it has always been there and you've been gaining XP and levels in it by training or fighting with polearms. The only thing this mod does is change the "hidden" flag for this skill to "false" so the skill is visible in the character sheet.

Installation:

- Unzip into your \KingdomComeDeliverance\Mods folder.

Files modified are:

\Data\Libs\Tables\rpg\skill.xml

Unless KCD makes a radical change to either of these, the mod should survive subsequent patches. In fact, I have no idea what broke Ceano's mod (Nahmy's hasn't been updated in a while), as it should have remained functional through the latest update.

I will update and maintain this mod as long as I play KCD; however, I'm a much less dedicated modder than I once was, so once the game leaves my hard drive, I will likely stop maintaining the mod. In that case, anyone is welcome to  take up the banner, use the mod as the template and create a newly functional version.
