About this mod

This retextures kaf1's amazing model of Queen of Sheba's sword into a more prestigious indigo/purple and damascus steel. PTF.

Overview

With kaf1's permission, I've decided to upload an alternate version of his amazing mod. This is standalone so the original isn't required, but please go download and endorse his mod!

This comes in two versions: a "Retex", which simply replaces the sword mesh/texture and an "Upgrade" version which bumps up the durability to 70 (from 10), similar to other mods on the Nexus.

Changes

Taking screenshots for this game is a PITA, but hopefully you can see everything clear enough. For the handle, I've made the cross guard and pommel bronze and roughened up the material a bit. For the grip, I've added more variation/imperfections to the dye to make it look more rustic. I've also added a "wire/cord" pattern to simulate the real practice of wrapping a sword handle's wood core with some kind of cord made of linen/hemp before applying the leather. For the blade, I've added the obvious damascus pattern to the spec map and darkened the base diffuse to a very dark purple so you get a nice mix of dark purple hue in the shade but glinted damascus in the sunlight. I think it turned out pretty decent overall.

Texture Specs

UPDATE: base diff & spec now compressed in BC7, which is much better quality (near lossless) than BC1-BC3 at about the same file size. Yes, KCD can handle BC7 just fine.

Base texture: 2k; spec: 4k. This is the best compromise I found—4k diff is unnecessary and 2k spec makes the damascus too pixelated.

Compatibility

This is a PTF, so is compatible with any other mod that doesn't also edit the sword.

The Upgrade version touches the "weapon.xml" while both touch the "pickable_item.xml" (which tells the game which sword mesh to use), so if you're using a weapon stat mod that edits the sword, load this one after.

Installation

Just put the "RoyalSheba" folder inside of your "Mods" folder and you're good to go.
