Runt will become a formidable opponent during his final encounter with Henry. The original game Runt was a let down in so many ways. The fight was over quickly and did not feel like a climactic moment at all. The 'Better Equipped Runt' mod did not change this too much. This mod fixes all of this.

I decided to create this mod after Henrys final encounter with Runt. I had Ironboundbandits 'Better Equipped Runt' mod installed for this occasion but even then Runt was beaten immediately. I was quite disappointed. The biggest changes in this mod are:

  • A much tougher Runt (obviously)
  • I also tried to make Runt as much visually similar to the Runt in cutscenes as possible (no spurs, sorry!). Only a helmet and a coif were added (Henry also has no helmet in the preceding cutscene so no big deal).
  • The Skalitz Runt during the Homecoming quest will still have his original equipment and appearance to be, again, as much similar as possible to the Runt in cutscenes.
  • Runt can not only take more damage but now he is also a better fighter! (he is supposed to be a huge guy after all)
  • Runt is supposed to be a "mountain of a man" but in reality he is as big as Henry and all the other NPCs. I made him 5% bigger.

The changes will affect your current play through. If, however, you already fought Runt you will need to load the 'Baptism of fire - Cuman camp' save to get new formidable Runt.


There are also four optional 'Super Runt' versions available if you like pain. They double, triple, quadruple or quintuple Runts damage respectively, make him more damage resistant, make him attack faster and more times in a row etc.. These versions are however somewhat immersion breaking because even the best knights in the game will now look like puppies in comparison to Runt. Download the 'Mod mechanics' file if you don't mind spoilers and if you are interested in the 'magic' behind this mod.

  • Updated to version 1.4 - Runt is now immune to the 'Headcracker' perk to prevent the duel from ending "on the first hit".
  • Version 1.3.1 - There are no changes. I have only added a 'Super Runt x4' and 'Super Runt x5' version for players who for some reason want maximum challenge. Please note that the 'Super Runt x5' version is almost unbeatable.
  • Version 1.3 - Runts fighting abilities have been improved even further. This does not make him deal higher damage but makes him react slightly faster and with more intensity (even faster and more intensely for the Super Runt versions). I also cleaned the mod a bit - no more unnecessary extra equipment.  
  • Version 1.2 - Runts fighting skills have been increased substantially. Make a mistake and Runt will punish you. Beating Runt comfortably will now require at least decent fighting skills.
  • Version 1.1 - Only bug fixes.
