About this mod

(PTF) The founding principle of this mod is that EVERY unique item-id has its own unique in-game name; no two items should EVER share the same name unless they ARE the same item

Building upon the work of TheVoidKnight and HaslamI (aka this mod is built upon Better Sorted Inventory) this mod goes further than anyone has previously, and yes that includes silencer711's Inventoried.  Specifically, the founding principle of this mod is that EVERY unique item-id has its own unique in-game name where previous mods left MANY items sharing the exact same name with other items which the game recognizes as being different, but that naming convention made it very hard for the player to differentiate items.  Thus, welcome to YAS mod.

The only items which I left sharing the same name were the various [Quest - Bandit Leader's Spurs] and [Quest - Cuman Leader's Mask] but the architecture is there if you want to give those items unique names as well.  Now, some items were SO indistinguishable from each other that I couldn't think of any descriptor to tell them apart and so I just called them eg [Head III - Bascinet (German)] and [Head III - Bascinet (German2)] - more as a placeholder than anything else so if you come up with a good differentiating descriptor for such items, leave a comment!

But this mod goes further than that.
  • I've assigned inventory icons to (almost) all the items which were previously missing icons.
  • I've re-categorized items based upon their actual usage instead of what they had been planned to be used for; eg if the game considers an item to be an ingredient but there are NO recipes which can accept that item then its only true use is to be sold - thus YAS mod lets you know that it can be safely sold. {EXAMPLE} The same goes for quest items; if an item's only uses are in a quest or to be sold then YAS will tag it as a quest item and if that quest item is sellable then you selling it is a quest decision.  But if an item is NOT actually used in any quests - YAS mod again lets you know that it can be safely sold.  The only exception to these rules are common items asked for by some quests like feathers or hides - since their common use is to be sold, YAS mod will NOT mark those items as quest items.
  • LADY items are fully sorted into specific body slot; while this is only useful during the A Woman's Lot DLC, I am rather proud of this sub-sort since no one else that I saw ever bothered going down to that level of detail (they are all still grouped together tho)
  • Test items (which the average player shouldn't ever encounter) are decoded into what they had been meant to be - as much as I was able to, so if you ever did encounter them somehow they'd give you more information than just eg "Multi-slot item test 2"
  • Changed a couple icons and descriptions to make more sense eg no more quest items claiming to be Cuman Ears unless they actually ARE Cuman Ears >.>
  • (Version 1.01) Added a +Rank system for Necklaces, Rings, Spurs, and Horseshoes

That said, there is ALWAYS more work which can be done.
  • As previously mentioned I'd love to get rid of ANY use of the number "2" in item names.
  • I still need to do more "Grouping Passes" to get similar items grouped together more (even more so than they currently are)
  • Some names do get rather long and get cut off by the edge of the UI (not a new problem tho)
  • Some people might disagree with my color descriptors - That's not really "Green" that's LIME!!! - you have to give me some leniency there

Load Order - YAS mod should be loaded AFTER Black Items Fix if you use it, but load any mods which ADD new items AFTER YAS
And ALWAYS load non-PTF mods before ALL others
There are a few Compatibility Patches in the optional downloads section, I guess I'm making them for donations now :-P

Oh and the main download includes an [ Index.ods ] file which is a spreadsheet allowing you to view exactly what YAS, Better Sorted, and Inventoried all name any given item... all at the same time!  The mod image upload is a screenshot taken of that file allowing you to SEE the difference each mod would make.
