  • Whats new in Collections?

    Bug Reports Feature

We’ve built a new bug reporting feature from scratch, allowing Nexus Mods members to raise bugs on Collections for the Curator’s attention.

  • What's new in Vortex 1.6?

Vortex 1.6 was released into the wild a few days ago, shipping with the latest batch of new features, UI improvements and a boatload of bug fixes. Here's a rundown of what's new in the latest version.

    Dashboard improvements

In the previous version of Vortex, it was a bit too easy to accidentally mess up your dashboard layout by clicking and dragging in the wrong place or dismissing a dashlet. We've remedied this by adding a dedicated "Customise my dashboard"...

  • Flag mods and us (and you)

Recently there's been some silly drama on our site that was sparked by someone uploading a mod for Spider-Man Remastered. The mod replaced the very few Pride flags the game actually has with the already prevalent USA flag texture from the game. The mod was removed from Nexus Mods and the author was banned.

To address the banning, which is what a lot of people want to focus on, the mod was uploaded by a sock puppet account (i.e. a newly made account by someone who already has an accou...

  • Reminder: Donation Options and Guidelines

Without mod authors sharing their creations our modding community wouldn’t exist. As you know, many mod authors put countless hours into their mods, maintaining documentation for users, and supporting their mods. It’s because of this fact that, over the years, we’ve added a number of ways for users to say “thank you” by donating to their favourite mod author - be it through our mod rewards system, the donation options we provide (donation button on the mod page), or by allowing mod aut...

  • Donation Drive for Ukraine - Update

Two weeks ago, we launched a donation drive to raise funds and support the Red Cross in its mission to bring medical aid to the people of Ukraine suffering the consequences of an unprovoked attack on their country.

We’re very happy to say that the community came out strong in support of Ukraine raising over £6,500 (~$8,474) in direct donations, with some individual donations as high as $100 or even $1,000 - which is just incredible! Thank you so much for your donations.

  • Donation Drive to help Victims of War in Ukraine

I’m sure you’re all aware of the horrible assault on Ukraine that started on 24 February. Along with the leadership and people of the vast majority of countries in the world, we strongly condemn this unprovoked attack on another sovereign nation at the orders of Russian president Vladimir Putin.

At this moment the people of Ukraine are suffering the consequences of Putin’s war of aggression which is bringing nothing but death, destruction, and displacement to countless familie...

  • Mods, Stats, Rewards - The last year at Nexus Mods

Happy (belated) new year everyone! For most people around the world, 2021 was still very much a year affected by the pandemic, so it probably won't make its way into any "Top 10 Best Years Ever" lists anytime soon. Looking at our site usage data and overall statistics, however, 2021 was indeed a very good year in terms of site growth. We're happy to say we're now serving more users and hosting more mods for many more games!

A significant project we completed in 2021 was the total ove...

Today, our upcoming Collections feature is moving into the Open Alpha testing phase. This means we're extending an open invitation to anyone in the community who would like to try out an early build of the system so that we can continue to fine-tune it for the full, public release.

This new wave of volunteers will join our existing testers who have already provided lots of incredibly valuable feedback over the past few months to help us in shaping the core experience of the Collectio...

  • Introducing our new Community Manager: Happybara

Earlier this year, we put out a call for a new Community Manager to join our team at Nexus Mods. We completed the hiring process for the new CM in June and our new recruit has since been eagerly working away in the background, helping us manage the day-to-day of running the website, and learning the ropes. There's been quite a lot going on here at Nexus Mods over the last few months, so they're definitely overdue a proper introduction. So, without further ado...

Collections - a project we've been working on aiming to make modding easier for everyone is reaching a testing stage in which we want to invite 100+ users to help us test. Anyone who is interested can apply to become a tester via the Google form linked below. We're now, for the first time, sharing more information and (alpha) footage of how the system will work. This should, hopefully, answer and address a lot of questions that have been raised, but if you feel there is more you'd like to know y...

  • Billing system and Premium pricing update

Nexus Mods first started offering Premium Membership as an option to users all the way back in 2007. Since then, it has been an invaluable source of income for the site that has allowed us to continue to host our services, hire staff, create NMM and Vortex, expand to over 1,300 more games and give back to mod authors via our Donation Points system, among many other things. Without it, the site simply would not exist.

Since we first started offering Premium Membership, our billi...

  • An important notice and our future plans for collections

TL;DR: It is our core belief that making modding easier is a noble goal, so more people can enjoy our joint hobby. We are convinced that our collections system, a project we have spent almost 2 years and many work-hours on, is the way to achieve this goal. For the benefit of this system we have to implement a change to how mod file deletions work. The change was announced to mod authors recently, and basically means that mod files are no longer deleted, but rather archived - which will make them...
