This completely deleted all my steam workshops mods with no way to reinstall them and basically ruined my game. Not sure what to do. Yes, I've reinstalled mods. Yes, I've verified the cache. I've done everything.

This seems to be a problem with the STEAM version. Try moving all mods in the MOD folder of the STEAM workshop to the MOD folder in the game directory.
They may not all be displayed, so make sure each MOD has the same name as its folder!
And most importantly, use the launcher of the game directory to open the game!

I cant open the Reshade menu. SSAO is activated in my mod list when i boot the game and shows up in the games graphic options, but Home doesn't do anything. What am I missing?

    TL;DR: Sh*t doesn't work ? (GPU spike/No AO/unreadable UI) Try this (dx11 only):

    Download mod
Download preset with fixed order and working UI Mask: Google drive
    Download latest Reshade installer
In the fixed reshade archive (the one from google drive) copy only the Kenshi2Wugonorama-reordered.ini and paste it in your kenshi directory.
Run reshade installer, select Kenshi (it's Dx11 if it asks you), then DON'T (DO NOT) SKIP, you have to SELECT THE PRESET to make it download latest version of shaders used by it.
Now from the original mod archive, copy to the kenshi directory ONLY the 2 folders (no .dll, no .ini) and DON'T (DO NOT) OVERWRITE when asked.
Last, from fixed archive (the one from google drive) copy the reshade-shaders folder and YES you DO HAVE TO OVERWRITE this time.
Now your Kenshi2Reshade REIMAGINED is also REUPDATED and REWORKING, gg.

    Full post:
Ok so to anyone downloading this in 2022, the reshade presets is gold, but the reshade version packed in the archive is outdated and on my end (rtx3080ti and windows 11) most of the shaders crashed on compilation (start of the game) cause also outdated, I had no visible ambiant occlusion and gpu was like at 90% at 100fps.

I managed to fix it, by importing only the preset (Kenshi2Wugonorama) in the kenshi directory and using the setup of the last reshade version to get latest update for shaders used by said preset, but I had to also copy on top of it what's in the archive because some fx arent available through default installation, obviously I did not overwrite anything and ended up with something working, except for the UI Mask which is reversed between the version of the archive and the current version of the shader downloaded automatically through the installation of reshade, so I just used the negative function of GIMP et voilĂ . Now it works without strange gpu usage and I can actually see the MXAO with my eyes :)

Every time I launch it crashes without fail, and I've done the renaming it recommended if that happens, no dice.

From the kenshi mod menu at startup (hit the mod tab before launching). The install comes bundled with SSAO mod (it gets added to your mod folder)

I see nothing listed in the shader menu (was looking for the options shown in screenshot on description page here on nexus). Also, I have no "enable SSAO" option in graphics menu.

    https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1681013987&searchtext=TRANSPARENT+reshade

would transparent UI not be compatible with the dark/vanilla file in this reshade?

Update: So far... yes? It's okay. But after trying this reshade, i rather like using it with the vanillla UI.
I have another question, personal preference. Would it be possible to use the thicker outlines from your original Kenshi 2 adapted into this reimagined version?

I understand how that may sound pointless but i'm curious how to do it myself lol. Tried to just use the old versions of the comic.fx and cartoon.fx with no results... so what exactly adds those borders around characters?
