restore missing npcs without import saved game

Permissions and credits
I hate import when I already spend a lot of time to wipe out every farm/mine/outpost of the Holy Nation, only bilster hill left but phoenix is missing. this is driving me crazy, if I import savegame I have to do it again, so I take some time to dig the save files and found a solution, this is more like a tutorial.

1. backup the one you try to edit first. all save files are located in "...\kenshi\save\"  folder.

I will use the name "badsave" as example for this tutorial.
so in the folder \kenshi\save\badsave\, you can see there are 2 folders and 2 files:

[platoon]
[zone]

quick.save
portraits_texture.png

the files in platoon folder hold the information of squads, which included phoenix status.

2. use the mod tool(forgotten construction set) to find out which file is using by phoenix squad.

execute "forgotten construction set.exe" from \kenshi folder, open any mod(just click "DONE").

go faction -> squads -> input filter "phoenix" to fast find the npc squad you want -> double click to open it. remember the "String ID" of phoenix squad(17233), now use "Open any" button on the toolbar to open your save file(in this case \kenshi\save\badsave\quick.save)

after you open it, right click anywhere, a menu pops up, chose to add a column, type lowercase "squad template", click "add".

now click on the "squad template"  to sort this column, you can also resize column to get clear view, scroll down to find the ID "17233", the name "The Holy Nation_189" is the file name use by phoenix squad in [platoon] folder.

3. replace corrupt platoon file with a normal one.

the files from download section are generated from a new game, download it and unzip, rename to "The Holy Nation_189.platoon", copy to \kenshi\save\badsave\platoon\ folder and overwrite.

4. launch the game and continue your journey.

how to get other npc's platoon file if they are missing?

the best way is generate from a new game, you can modify character spawn location(see tutorials on the Internet) right at the city where the missing npc is, make sure you save AFTER you find that npc in game, that guarantee the npc's platoon file will be generated. Use the same way to find out which platoon file is use by that npc in the new save, then you can extract it for later use.
