It would be great to learn how to adjust the blur so that it spreads only to the background, without affecting the sky. The blurring of the distant hills looks amazing, but traveling under the night sky loses its atmosphere, because the stars are not visible. Maybe someone has found another DOF option that can do this? I tried several different options, but nothing worked out properly.

To turn off the blur, press the Home key and uncheck the Focal DOF option. You can not disable it, but slightly reduce the Apearance parameter in the Focal DOF. The solution to the problem related to HUD transparency was suggested by Redronn in the comment below, it works.

If anyone wants to not have ReShade effects also change how the UI looks for Kenshi or other games, I wrote a guide on Steam but I'll just paste it here also. This is the only way to do it well afaik (don't use UIMask or UIDetect):

    • Download the full add-on supported version of ReShade: https://reshade.me/
    • During installation, select the ReshadeEffectShaderToggler (REST) add-on. This is what will let your effects ignore the entire UI, preventing any bleed-through when using ambient occlusion, for example.
    • Turn on heat haze in the games graphics settings. It seems to be required for this to work.
Changing settings in REST did nothing for me when I had it off.
    • Fully load into a save, then in ReShade just enable an effect that is very easy to see like ASCII, so it's easier to see if what you're doing with the add-on is working correctly.
    • Select the add-ons tab and under ReshadeEffectShaderToggler (REST), create a new toggle group, activate it and click settings.
    • Make sure Invocation location is set to AFTER DRAW, then scroll to the bottom of the list. For Kenshi, the one that works best for me is the 3rd one from the bottom. If you click it and the UI becomes fully visible, and the ASCII effect still looks the same as before, then it's working.
    • Double click it so it turns yellow. Click done and save all toggle groups.

I have Dark UI installed but for some reason the Bottom UI Mask is misaligned and makes weird portions of my UI transparent and somewhat hard to see. If I turn it off then my entire UI is transparent and hard to see. Did I install something wrong?

The issue is caused by a file named UIMask.png inside D:\Steam\steamapps\common\Kenshi\TSUKI ReShade\reshade-shaders\Textures
Literally just go into the folder and delete the file and bam. solved

that's because of an option that gives you RT, i don't remember the effect's name but at the end says "(Patreons Only)", desactivate it and there you go.

This is my personal opinion, but the second version looks not just better, but just at least normal, unlike the blurred 3rd version, there is a lot of everything, overly much of EVERYTHING

This looks great, and I enjoy how it makes the game look.
But my struggle is that the UI is affected as well. Which is unfortunately annoying and hurts my eyes.

I've done some trouble-shooting, and others seemed to have similar issues. But their fixes are not in my situation for some reason.

Having to look down when I check my map, otherwise it's affected by occlusion... Is kinda weird.
As well, my UI is just darkened to a point where it's near impossible to see what is on it. ( Outside of the UI Mask )

But the implication that the UI needs a mask suggests that this is just how it is for this mod?

I do not appear to have installed it incorrectly.
I don't have mods that would affect it based on Load order. Assuming that could be a possibility.

Any advice? or am I out of options? D:
Sorry if I'm ignorant of the obvious.

I followed everything in order, but I'm not getting anything. I clicked manual download on the one that requires Dark UI. I end up with TSUKI V3.zip, navigate into it to TSUKI ReShade, where a file exists that says #MOVE EVERYTHING TO GAME FOLDER, and then copy and paste everything into C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Kenshi. I download ReShade_Setup_5.9.2_Addon.exe. I open it, select Kenshi_X64 (kenshi_x64.exe), click Next, select DirectX 10/11/12, click Next, click Browse, go to the previously listed C navigation, select TSUKI V3.ini, click Open, and then click Next. On the 'Select effects packages to install', I click Skip as the mod instructions tell me to do, and I'm told that I've successfully installed ReShade. I click finish, open up Kenshi, and I'm told that ReShade is now installed and that I should press Home to start a tutorial. I click continue, see a red bar that read TSUKI V3, click continue, and then find myself on a screen that says "No effect files (.fx) found in the effect search paths. Please verifiy and then click reload. I load my game and nothing looks any different.

Note: I have kenshi installed on a Ram-Drive.

When booting up after install and press "home key" it says: TSUKI V3

No effect files (.fx) found in the effect search paths:
    K:\reshade-shaders\Shaders\**

    K:\ is the ramdrive

Thank you for this great work!
However, I have to say something... You said: "If you for some reason do not wish to use Dark UI,..." Well, lol. You say that as if using the Dark UI would be better. I personally prefer the vanilla UI a thousand times. I like it a lot better. ^^
Said that, I have the follow wrong thing: Ambientlight.fx failed to compile
    (Next image files were not found: Dirt.png, LensDB.png, LensDB2.png, LensDOV.png, LensDUV.png)
What can I do? Thanks again

The problem is located in the missing files, he didn't include those texture files with the new v3 download, but he has them located in his old v2 download just go to the old post download tab and find the v2 download, and then drag and drop the files into your shader texture folder and then reload :)

I was having the same problem, luckily I know enough about modding to be able to get it resolved but I second the statement others have made, should really sort it out and reupload for the newer and less involved users.

look at the comment from thisisvanda That I replied in. Follow the instructions in the reply to that comment, you need to add the missing files from the previous download.
