So far so good! Downloaded the 1024 option and it runs way smoother than before. Still need to observe longer but I don't experience so much lag anymore when switching between characters from far areas for example. Great mod and endorsed.
Choose and download one file, it's an archive, you need to unpack it into the game's mods folder so the path looks like this: Kenshi\mods\Texture_Options_1024\ for example. Check it in the launcher when the game starts. No carpets needed. :3
Hi there, I wanted to say your mod looks great and it's greatly improver performance on my game with the 1024 option, I wondered if you could help me locate and remove certain textures from the mod however? The HQ buildings in the Genesis mod have the textures downscaled in a way that is much much blurrier than other textures. https://imgur.com/a/uCbAIGs
Do you know which textures in the mod change this building?
Hi thanks for the mod ,i got the full 512 version, game loading are really good and i dont really care about building textures, but man!some armor textures like dustcoat look like gorillo s***!LOL I know there are other optional textures for world only, but can i just delete some of the files in your mod to just make armors use original textures?is it possible?
Sure. If you delete some textures from the mod folder, the game will load up the original ones instead of deleted textures. The rest will stay as they were. In case you're wondering, the .mod file is empty, it's used merely to toggle the textures in the launcher.
this mod looks great, i was just wondering though. is there a difference between this mod and the "compressed textures project" mod on the steam workshop? thanks anyways.
Yes. You can just overwrite the textures with the ones that are provided in the archive. I just added the .mod file, so that if you put it in mods folder, you can toggle it in the mods menu of the launcher.
hi! is there a way to modify only the sky texture? i would like to "hold" the sky dome texture to high, while the rest can remain fudgy, is there a way to achieve this?
I actually wanted to achieve that very goal. You can use this mod. It doesn't change the night sky and moons. So set textures to high in the options, and use 512 version. If that's not fudgy enough, I dunno. Other than using modified textures, no. There's no way. Not that I know of. Also, read the description of the mod, I wrote it all down there.
hello, I have a question for the creator of the mod, my pc is too short to play, I have the graphics at minimum and I'm going to download the 512, you comment that you put the graphics to the maximum, how do you recommend putting them? I keep them equal to the minimum as now for the best possible performance? ... or does it not work like that? I trust that your mod will improve me even if it's a little bit, in my case it's a lot, I thank you in advance
I hope you understand everything because I use the Google translator because my English is a s*** :P
There's an option in graphics settings to choose the textures size. I always go with "High" because I altered the textures, they weight less and are less intrusive. Because, you see, even if you select the "High" option for textures in the game menu, when you have this mod installed, it will load the textures from this mod. That are much smaller in size. So it doesn't matter much what will you choose in the options menu. The textures are replaced. Well, it does matter a bit. You still will be better off choosing the High quality for texture options. I'll try to explain. Say we have a file that contains a texture for something, like a wall or sand or a piece of armor. So this file contains different instances of the texture for every quality setting you might choose. So all I did is I reduced the size of the original file, so that it takes less time to load it, and less time to process and render. So, you might want to choose high settings for textures, just to try it out. Ah yeah, to answer your question, if you have a potato powered computer, go with minimal settings and try to go up as you play and test it out. :3 Thing is, the textures are the same, but they weight less, that's all :3
1st of all, thanks for answering, and yes ... what you explain is what I assumed when you said how you used it, I've already tried to play and tinkle a bit, 1st I left it as I had ... the textures of soil and rocks in general were frightful (even though I value more the performance ... horrible) but if I noticed a greater fluidity, so I changed and raised the quality of textures to medium and raised the textures of terrain and I was much worse the performance , I reduced them a bit both and hit me with a group as soon as I left the city where I was ... (stealing ... shhhhh hahaha what fun and EASY that is) and the fps got me down too much ... so that you have an idea me when I go more fluid and I have less players on screen I have between 10-12 and maximum maximum 15 fps, in that battle I get low at 6 or 7 fps (below 9 it is very hard to play it ... and thank you there is a pause) so I'm still trying to see how it works better, I'm at an early stage playing, even without a base, with everything my group (about 22) almost have not had a chance to hit me, so I do not have much to compare with before, but you've certainly given me more options to play with the configuration in search of me better ... even if I had what to see in horrible quality, would be by choice.
what I write below (maybe too much) you can skip it, just anecdotes from my game aproposito steal, something I would never think I would do in the game (I always hate rogues death in all games), I will spoil the game, because surprisingly I liked the emotion and is a game of survival, so that at first you can not rule out any possibility of getting things ... but it's too easy (and dangerous, but I admit that I play with the possibility to always load the game) I left a store with 30 heavy swords easily! quite good for the stage I am (my warriors can not with them xd), hit me with some bandits and take the opportunity to climb theft with them when they making the dead ... I came back to sell your armors .. and steal as 15 more swords! I open chests almost in your face! I only tell you why I'm still hallucinating, the bad ... is that I can spoil the game because with the economy I'm good at all games (before taking a sample of robbery held 100,000 cats even without having base) .. But now ... it's too much, if I started a new game I think I would choose not to steal, but now I think I can not quit! hahaha
If you struggle that much even with this texture mod, be sure to try my other mod https://www.nexusmods.com/kenshi/mods/54 Less foliage and rocks. It might help you a lot. I personally can't play without it, my PC is quite a potato. :/
Of course I already had it in its maximum version of -75%, although I installed it as soon as I do not know how much it helped me, but even if it is only because I am less bothered by rocks and foliage when I travel ... I do not know They distinguish well the ncps of the crap, so that's why it's a great improvement ... thanks: D I found my best configuration having almost everything at minimum, but not so much that it looks frightening, only almost, even so, with the whole group on screen and enemies or a city ... it's going to 7 fps :(, for the moment thanks to pause and take it with patience I can deal with it. I also have the mod that eliminates the graphs of the meteorological effects.
on purpose to more informative mode, what I have noticed is that what makes me lower the fps and the performance are the effects of light and water, that's what my nvidia 8600 gt does not seem to be able to support, more than the fact of having many units on screen
I've got the same problem and it is something to do with Vortex. The game crashes when loading a save If installed through vortex, manual install worked for me. Try that zombiepredator22
Hello i tryed version 512, game load very long and become less stable, after that loading times are mush shorter, but NOT ALL NPC are loaded, some of my npces 2 hives and doctor chunk in swamp was invisible, i gonna try 1024 version, but i cant just endorse for now
I heard about invisible NPC's before, but it was something not related to my mod. I don't remember what that was. :/ Anyway. Tell me how I can test it. Is there an NPC I can see in my game, like a unique one? Try 1024, and if that doesn't work. Try the version 4 of the mod from the old files. It's identical to version 5, but you need to install it by replacing the files, all is in description. Actually you can just take the textures from version 5, provided you understand where to put them.
