So, given how the Paladin's Heavy Hachigane is not only the best helmet in game, but that it also looks the best in the game, I decided to add some extra flair to my set up.

My remade chainmail mod was mostly about improving the chainmail without straying too far from what it looked like originally (especially given that the parts of the texture I used to create it came from other mail items). This however, is purely about adding something cool. The Holy Nation, to my knowledge, are the only faction in the game to use the Paladin's Heavy Hachigane - and it is the only item in game to use this particular style of mail. Call me crazy for spotting something that isn't there, but to me, it looks like this mail pattern bears a striking resemblance to the Flame of Okran.

My logic is thus; it's a Holy Nation ONLY mail pattern; maybe it just looks cool, maybe it has a purpose. If history is anything to go off (and this is now entering ridiculous levels of speculation), the type of extended diamond shape of the Paladin's Heavy Hachigane mail looks suspiciously like Lorica Squamata. Roman scale armour. Going off what mediocre amount knowledge I have, and extrapolating based on the in game texture; this was never designed to protect against piercing blows, but instead cuts and slashes - what do we know about the game? Everyone either swings, or slashes. I haven't seen anyone thrust, with any type of weapon. Maybe I just missed it.

Either way, it appears to be at least, mildly based on some form of real armour; whether by accident or design, I don't know. Personally I think it looks like the Flame of Okran, and given only the Holy Nation - and specifically those of high station / rank - use it, I'm inclined to believe myself.

Long story short, I always liked the look of it, and I wanted to make a chainmail variant of it. So, this is the first WIP. Stitched a full 2k normal and diffuse together, although I'll probably need to reduce the size to get it looking better, as compared to the helmet, this particular texture is too large (in shape, not pixels). I'll probably add a variant with footwraps, and one with gloves too at some point. I probably won't bother making a darkened one, because stealing is FORBIDDEN in the Holy Nation, lmao
