About this mod

The coolest JWE2 mod in 20,000 years has returned.

Permissions and credits
6/6/2025 update: Nothing has been changed with this mod, but I'd just like to say; if you bought Jurassic World Evolution 2, standalone or with DLC, regardless of pricing or storefront, you have my utmost pity. Go play Zoo Tycoon 2 or JP:OG instead.

Lately, after playing through (as much of) the first Jurassic World Evolution (as I could bear before getting bored), not thinking very highly of it and thinking of how poor a note I left JWE2 on, I opted to try and return to the second game to see if my feelings on it are warranted. I will not express my full opinions on the game here, but I will say that I don't think the game is anywhere near worthy of being given my full attention.

That said, around the time I got around of a third of the way through the Malta campaign and the stinkin' thing softlocked, a thought struck me.

With the Biosyn expansion having introduced a map covered in snow at all times over two years ago and with support having evidently ended, I'd say this has been a long time coming.

The characters have been put on preexisting base game rigs that match the size of their models, and roughly the niche when applicable: Manny replaces the Nasutoceratops, Diego replaces the Chungkingosaurus (shame we never got a proper saber-toothed cat to put him on), Sid replaces the Homalocephale and Scrat replaces the Compsognathus. It must be stressed that Manny and Diego are species that cannot live comfortably together, they can only coexist in Sandbox Mode with comfort turned off. All four models used were ripped from the Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs PC game by mwah. These won't ever be made into new species by me, if someone else wants to do it for whatever reason feel free to do so (ideally, just give credit, no permission is necessary).

Worth mentioning is that everything here has essentially been recreated from scratch with no assets from either the original replacer pack or ViraLCyclopes' mirror of it with variants, with completely different rigging, weight painting and so on. And thanks to advances in rig editing since JWE2's launch, the gang have never been more animated - everyone can blink and open their mouths now! Like in ViraLCyclopes' mirror, they also come in, er, frankly pretty hideous different colors this time - still no patterns, though.

To get their "proper" colors, Manny and Diego use the Sonoran Desert variant while Sid and Scrat use the Death Valley variant.

Installation
Though everything is provided in one package, given that all four of these are bound to have varying appeal - I'm sure that Manny will be more viable as a generic woolly mammoth than Sid will be as a generic ground sloth - everything is separated into folders so you can choose which ones you want. Keep in
mind that these are replacers. If you squint hard enough, you can pretend that Diego is Camp Cretaceous Season 4's saber-toothed cat.

To install, drag one or several of the provided folders (remember: Manny = nasuto, Diego = chungking, Sid = homalo and Scrat = compy) into the
following directory:

steam\steamapps\common\Jurassic World Evolution\Win64\ovldata\Content0\Dinosaurs\Land\

If prompted to replace anything, either select "yes" for every prompt or "yes to all". Do not rename the folder, do not rename anything in the folder and do not put the folder in any of the folders already inside of ovldata.

Though backups are included in each folder, it still won't hurt to backup your existing files.

Known Issues
  • As mentioned above, the gang don't have any patterns.
  • Some of their legs move a little oddly; I'm not sure if rig editing legs is feasible yet.
  • It's hard to exaggerate just how wacky some of these fellows are; Manny has an odd gait and likes crossing his eyes, Diego has a surprised look on his face much of the time, Sid is an all-around oddball and Scrat has a couple clipping problems.
  • If you zoom in on any of the characters, you'll notice that they have little details - Manny and Diego have little wrinkles and Sid and Scrat have scales. This is a necessary evil to let them have working variants. (You'll also notice that their eyes and mouths change color and have the details too, this is deliberate and I think it's funnier than leaving them untouched).

Uhh, what's with those other ones in the package?
Oh, those? The use size editing on top of rig editing and are pretty finicky as a result. While the Indominus Rex one goes in the same directory as the main four, the one using the Tarbosaurus rig (yes, I know it should be on the T. rex, hush I figued the tarb would be more fitting) goes in the following directory:

steam\steamapps\common\Jurassic World Evolution\Win64\ovldata\ContentPDLC8\Dinosaurs\Land\
