About this mod

(requires the Carnivore Dinosaur Pack and ACSE to use. Read the description before downloading or reporting issues) Adds the pygmy Arctic tyrannosaur, Nanuqsaurus, to the game as a new species. Version 2.0: Refurbished model, completely rejigged the alternate patterns

Permissions and credits
8/21/2021 update: A new, touched-up version of this mod has been released, bringing with it better skins, a different suite of pattern genes and a cape of proper feathers instead of weird spines. Savvy players may be aware that real Nanuqsaurus were probably a lot bigger than generally assumed, potentially in the size range of other big North American tyrannosaurids - take a gander at the InGen Database for a little something that acknowledges this.

However, be aware that, if you already have the mod installed and choose to update it to this newest version, any Nanuqsaurus in your existing parks bearing the Jungle, Coastal and Vivid patterns will have the default skin and colors. Those patterns have been discontinued to make way for three new ones (one of which I begrudgingly implemented by popular demand, I will say no more). Otherwise, the new version should work just fine.

This mod adds a new dinosaur to the game: Nanuqsaurus, a relatively (keyword "relatively", this is still a big stinkin' animal) small tyrannosaurid that lived in what is now Alaska during the Late Cretaceous. It is unlocked on Isla Sorna with with a little less than half a bar of Science reputation/4 stars in Challenge Mode, and is based off of the Herrerasaurus.

This mod requires two things: the Carnivore Dinosaur Pack and a mod called the Awesome Cobra Script Extender/ACSE. The installation procedure is as follows:

  • Download ACSE/the Awesome Cobra Script Extender from https://github.com/OpenNaja/ACSE/releases, the download link should read 'Awesome.Cobra.Script.Extender.zip'
  • If you didn't already download it to the directory, move the Awesome.Cobra.Script.Extender.zip file to the following directory 'Steam\steamapps\common\Jurassic World Evolution\Win64\ovldata\'
  • Extract the file. If you're using 7Zip, which is what I use for all of this, make sure you click 'Extract Here' instead of any of the other options. If a folder named 'ACSE' appears after you extract the file, you've installed it correctly and you can delete the .zip file (not the folder). If a folder named 'Awesome.Cobra.Script.Extender' appears, delete that folder (not the .zip file, you still need that) and try again.
  • Download this very mod
  • Either drag/drop or copy/paste the 'NanuqsaurusN' folder to the following directory: 'steam\steamapps\common\Jurassic World Evolution\Win64\ovldata'.  Do not rename the folder, do not rename anything in the folder and do not put the folder in any of the folders already inside of ovldata. If you get invisible icons and the Nanuqsaurus doesn't come out of the hatchery, you either installed the mod wrong or you renamed a folder.

Depending on how many ACSE-reliant mods you already have installed, you may encounter a strange issue when using the ACSE patch: the Nanuqsaurus research icon may overlap with one of the pre-existing icons in the Global Operations menu, making the icon unselectable. To remedy this issue, follow these steps:

  • Right click to leave the Global Operations menu and go back to the base research menu
  • Enter the Fossils menu
  • Right click to leave the Fossils menu
  • Re-enter the Global Operations menu. The icon should now be selectable.

Known Issues
  • Strange but harmless... issues with hunting goats and guests (this is consistent with all of the other small carnivore mods thus far)
  • A couple missing scale patches on the thighs; because of how the feather textures are handled, the missing patches are necessary to make the feathers look at all presentable
  • On the note of the feathers, some of the feathers have slightly odd coloration with certain patterns.

If you find any serious issues that aren't acknowledged above, please do report them; the more descriptive the reports the better, "game crashed please help" isn't something I can go off of very well.
