Hey, I may have a problem. I downloaded the Dimetrodon mod to add to my game, I went to Isla Matanceros to research it, I go to the research center and it says that I have something available to research but when I go into fossils, there's nothing there! I tried renaming the file, but that didn't work, I tried replacing the file, still nothing! I had to have closed and reopened the game about 4 or 5 times so far and nothing worked! Am I doing something wrong? Am I missing something? I looked in the files and everything is there! What do I do?
I figured it out THX to the psittacosaurus new species mod (https://www.nexusmods.com/jurassicworldevolution/mods/922)
"If you have installed several other new species mods and this one doesn't show up in the game, there is a reason for this; there are only so many slots in the fossil research menu for each category."
This is bad news, lets say each category in the research menu has a limit of 20 and theirs 2 categories then we could have a max Dino limit of 40(just an example this means we can only have a max amount even if someone places the research to another category we would have a limit of 20 research species in each category BUT This only affects the main campaign sanctuary and rtjp dlc's and challenge mode so you just need to complete the game then add the modded species if you are starting from scratch but if you are not just add the mods then play sandbox you can play other modes and campaigns, but you can't research them as far as I know at least. i might be way off or wrong in some parts
Okay so for everyone who is having this issue I have found a kinda complex solution.
Step 1: Place all added species files into JWE's ovldata. Step 2: Go to campaign research as many as you can until you reach the point where you can't research the Dimetrodon. Step 3: Save and close the game. Step 4: Remove an added species from the ovldata, that was in the Fallen Kingdom Update Research section of the research tab. (Examples Torvosaurus, Pachyrhinosaurus, or Estemenosuchus) Step 5: Re-open the game in the campaign mode and research the Dimetrodon. Step 6: Close the game, re-add the added species you removed into the ovldata, and then reopen the game to the campaign. The Dimetrodon will be researched, the fossil site will be available, however, the completed research icon will not be there again replaced by the one you removed and re-added from the ovldata.
What this does is the game will have saved the research you did on the species that was available and if you do what I did, extracted DNA from. So when you re-add the species you temporarily removed, you have access to all the species, until the mod is updated and an easier fix is found.
for me, it wont come out of the hatchery. it says releasing, but it just doesn't. is this a common problem with modded creatures or just this one because this is my first mod.
i wont cut the author much slack as it comes to the no description or readme to figure this stuff out, but it seems based on the files that it is an ACSE mod. Edit: I have a major case of the stupid and just need to stop talking.
