About this mod

Some things should stay on an island.

In 1933 Carl Denham shocked the world when he unveiled King Kong to a stunned crowd at the Alhambra Theatre. The twenty-five-foot-tall delivered the scientific community a one-two punch that sent it reeling with the impact of this incredible discovery and subsequent tragic loss. But Kong was just the beginning. An entire island bursting with prehistoric wonders, existed. 15 years after its discovery, Skull Island sunk back into the ocean. Now, 87 years after its discovery Skull Island is being brought back to life. Using help from the world-renowned diver Rikki Chadwick, InGen collected fossil material and amber from the lost island, and with the power of bioengineering, Skull Island's vivid wildlife is being brought back from extinction.

Extracting species profile...

VASTATOSAURUS REX
The biggest predator on Skull Island was the Vastatosaurus rex. Like their prehistoric Tyrannosaur relations, the Skull Island V. rexes had little competition for their spot as top predators. In spite of their 40 to 50 feet long and heavy bodies, they could turn on a surprising burst of speed for short periods, clocking up to 25 mph for limited stretches in pursuit of prey.

BRONTOSAURUS
Though superficially similar to their extinct prehistoric ancestors, the Brontosaurus of Skull Island developed several distinct features that allowed them to flourish, like live birth.

FERRUCUTUS
Among the most impressive herbivores on Skull Island were the mighty Ferrucutuses. Heavily built grazers with massive shoulders and enormous frills of bone and spine, these powerful animals were dangerous prey for the island's carnivores.

LIGOCRISTUS
Sporting bony crests with long tailing fins of skin, Ligocristuses were able to communicate mood and breeding status visaully. In a mechanism similar to that of a chameleon, colored cells on Ligocristus' crest could flash to create different hues on the skin as a result of hormonal signals.

VENATOSAURUS
Skull Island's pack-hunting Venatosauruses took the advances and specialization of their Cretaceous dromaeosaurid forebears and develop them to a new extreme. Their keen eyesight, great speed, and killing toe claws they shared with their ancestors, but Venatosauruses had taken these adaptations and added a few more to make them even more effective killers.

IMPORTANT TO KNOW
- This mod replaces the Carcharodontosaurus, Apatosaurus, Chasmosaurus, Parasaurolophus (both, unfortunately) and Deinonychus. I recommend to back up your original game files prior to installing this mod.

- The dinosaurs come complete with icon and name change, database profiles, as well as icons for the research center for V. rex. If you're only interested in replacing the models and skins without altering the image or text files of the game, only use the files inside the "Dinosaurs" folders in both of the download parts.

- Unfortunately, the stretched out horns on the Ferrucutus are the best I could do. If anyone wanna re-edit it, be my guest (just let me know first).

- If, for whatever reason the mod makes your game crash as a few people reported, first, back up your files (or download the original game files from this website), and then check if: 1. your game is updated to the most recent update (as of May 10th, 2020) or if it's a hacked/pirated and outdated version. 2. If none of the issues apply, try adding in the files one by one (starting with the dinosaurs, to UI, to Localised lang files) and check which file made the game crash, and please report back. This is crucial for improving the content!
