About this mod

"Fixes" the game's dinosaurs and makes them more movie- and canon-accurate. The "scraps" contain 13 remakes of dinosaurs - three of which based off of the movies, the others not.

♥ ~ Nothing here is ever going to be made into a new cosmetic ~ ♥

This mod changes the models, skins and in some cases variants of many of the game's dinosaurs in an effort to make them both more accurate to the film universe and less aggressively bland. Some remakes are subtler than others.

Contents

Part 1

  • Ankylosaurus (JW era) - less brown
  • Apatosaurus - rig edits, model changes, skin edits - all around closer to the movie design
  • Edmontosaurus - slightly darker with no crest, mild edits to the model
  • Gallimimus - pretty dramatic changes to all of the skins
  • Indominus Rex - smaller lower jaw (what's with the vanilla indom's weird underbite?), darker skin and more orange-y eyes
  • Metriacanthosaurus - quills have been added, and its base skin has been changed to more closely resemble its website incarnation
  • Parasaurolophus - very slight rig and model edits; the big things here are that it is slightly darker-colored and has gold eyes as opposed to black ones. Its variants have been modified a bit as well
  • Stegosaurus (JW era) - no model changes necessary - the main skin is has been changed quite a bit, and most of the cosmetics are radically different from how they are in the vanilla game
  • Suchomimus - no real modifications to the skin needed, the model has been modified to be even closer to its website design - the addition of feathery quills and its arms having a different posture are the biggest differences between its vanilla design and facelift design
  • Triceratops (JW era) - slight posture edits, skin changes to better represent the movie design - the main skin has a splash of cyan on its face and the alternate skins have colorful faces and brow horns
  • Tyrannosaurus (JW era) - more anatomically faithful to the Jurassic World tyrannosaur, modified main skin
  • Velociraptor (JW era) - a little less buff with better lips; the big changes come with its secondary texture and alternate patterns - Delta has different eyes to reflect her appearance in the movies

Part 2

  • Allosaurus - a few rig edits, generally modified to resemble the adult allosaur depicted in Battle at Big Rock
  • Baryonyx - darker textures, smoother
  • Brachiosaurus (JW era) - very mild rig edits, modified to look like the Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom design
  • Carnotaurus  - rig, model and skin edits - its null pattern resembles Toro and the first Fallen Kingdom carnotaur, its steppe pattern is intended to be similar to the "demon" carnotaur and its tundra pattern is a nod to the series' trope of camo-carnotaurs
  • Compsognathus - slightly modified teeth - to compensate for extremely subtle changes to its base design, its variants have been changed quite a bit
  • Indoraptor - more film-accurate colors, modified variants; of note are its Savannah and Rainforest patterns.
  • Sinoceratops - brighter, less dingy main skin; the sino's fgms are near-impossible to work with and hindered any of its skins really being improved, sorry
  • Stygimoloch - slightly less wide-bodied, different eyes

Nasutoceratops has been left out because, to my eye at least, it really doesn't need to be edited, it's canon-accurate as it is.

"Scraps"

Though, thanks to JWE2, there will never be a true Part 3, I thought it would be wrong to leave everything done for future parts on the floor. So, for all two of the people still here, I present...

  • Dilophosaurus - modified to more closely resemble its Jurassic Park incarnation
  • Seismosaurus - rig edits, modified to resemble its actual goddamn movie incarnation
  • Spinosaurus - rig edits, modified to look closer to its JP3 design
  • Deinonychus - a nigh-complete makeover: dramatic remodel, no crest, round pupils and a late 90's/early 2000's-friendly feather cape
  • Giganotosaurus - intended to be an original trilogy-friendly Giganotosaurus, not remotely based off of the JW:D design. Model and texture edits, sshhh, I know I forgot to give it a dewclaw.
  • Struthiomimus - tries to make the design, less, y'know, rip-offy;
  • Torosaurus - model edits, a bit more visually striking; this is a particularly old mod from early 2020, originally made for an unreleased "Fun Pack"
  • Troodon - instead of aiming for accuracy, this redesign goes in the opposite direction - modified to resemble a Ron Seguin-style Stenonychosaurus, the base textures are based off of Jeanie and a lizard respectively (I haven't tested it in a long time, I recall many of the alternate colors for the lizard skin being same-y)
  • Carcharodontosaurus - modified to be closer to the actual animal while still being based off of an outdated skeletal
  • Acrocanthosaurus - rolls with the vanilla animal's huge, beefy design while trying to stick more to the actual animal; in hindsight I probably overexaggerated the eyebrows, it looks like it's constantly sad (or, when it rumbles, extremely pleased)
  • Herrerasaurus - subtle texture and model changes; some of the variants have been tweaked
  • Proceratosaurus - like the Troodon, this foregoes accuracy in favor of a "retro" design; model edits, the primary skin texture has an extremely brightly-colored head
  • Albertosaurus - a little more anatomically rigorous, more defined textures

Many of these mods have not been tested since November, though they should work completely fine. Please report any issues you have with these dinosaurs.

Installation

To install, either drag/drop or copy/paste the folders with the word 'Content' in them (Content0, FilmContent, ContentPDLC6, etc., not the Backup folder included with every part) provided in the .zip file to the following directory:

steam\steamapps\common\Jurassic World Evolution\Win64\ovldata\

If prompted to replace anything, either select "yes" or every prompt or "yes to all". Do not rename the folder, do not rename anything in the folder and do not put the folder in any of the folders already inside of ovldata.

Though backups are included with the download, it still won't hurt to backup your existing files.

Known Issues

  • The Edmontosaurus and Gallimimus have slight problems regarding subtle patches of red around their limbs. I have no idea what the problem is, I'd fix it in a heartbeat if I knew.
  • Because its neck is slightly shorter, Brachiosaurus can't quite reach water to drink - they'll still drink, though, the effect is purely visual.

If you find any serious issues that aren't acknowledged above, please do report them; the more descriptive the reports the better,
"game crashed please help" isn't something I can go off of very well.
