I don't think anyone cares, I think people just like to let others know about recent discoveries etc, or in my case just pointing out that it's great how unique they made the model from the in-game diplo, that was my intention at least. It's a great mod, a much needed more-accurate version of a diplodocus species, and as a new species with a different name we can have both in the game, which is brilliant. The outdated name doesn't bother me in the slightest, and I haven't seen anyone commenting that it does or commenting about the mod in a negative way on the mod page, just a few pointing out the recent reclassification (even though it was mentioned in the description).
I'd also like to point out that it is a valid species, Diplodocus hallorum, and the in-game diplodocus is Diplodocus carnegii.
Let's all just move on please, this is becoming a much bigger deal than it should be.
Seismosaurus is by far the least glaring invalid taxon we have in the base game or in mods. It can easily just be a better Diplodocus if you wanted, or it could be it's own separate species.
For me, i'll either use Seismosaurus as an adult Diplodocus, while using the base game diplodocus as subadults. I might also just use Seismo as a big male while the base game ones are female.
i didn't had time to say it and i'm glad other people are there for that indeed the name is invalid yes because it is a Diplodocus specie hallorum to be more clear so except for the name it's still valid if it's too much of a bother just don't get the mod or rename the dino once he's out of hatchery or either the dev can put a file to change the name but i don't really believe in that
I really like the idea of male and female. Since this guy came out, I’ve been thinking of how to use them both given how different the interpretations are. Was leaning toward using one as Tornieria for a Jurassic Africa exhibit but think I’ll go with this instead. Thanks!
Nobody cares guys, move on. I downloaded it, I will be enjoying it; and you guys will still be here, bored out of your mind in U.S isolation talking utter crap about everyone else on nexus.
Junior synonym new species mods open up more possibilities for an animal than the base game, like dimorphism and ontogeny, where in base JWE you get a few skins and that's it. So even a lumper like me is cool with it.
I don't care.... In most cases. Unless somebody puts three Pachycephalosaurus, that are the same genus and species, that live in the same place in the same vanilla roster, when the only thing that breaks that monotony is the annoying squeaker toy.
In this case, i have a much needed paleo edit for the boring and bland skinny stick diplo from the base game. If i can use the invalid taxon as sexual dimorphism, in the case of Seismosaurus and Diplodocus, or ontogenetic morphs like Nanotyrannus and Tyrannosaurus, Dracroex, Stygimoloch and Pachycephalosaurus.. Or if the invalid taxon serves as a better paleo edit than it's valid counterpart in the base game. I'm gam, if not. I just don't install the mod lol.
If Frontier did this officially, i'd have something to say.. Idc about JP lore, i don't want three of the same animal in the roster lol. But since it's modders doing this with their own time. I don't say much critically if anything..
