Don't worry, you're not disappointing anyone. You were very ambitious and tried something new that didn't quite work out, but the model was already great to begin with. And I think it is a good call that you decided to not add feathers, rather than to implement them in a suboptimal way. Looking forward to seeing the finished result once you feel satisfied with your creation :)

The most important part is that you yourself are happy with the mod you made ^^
