What is this?

Welcome to my Assortment of Things to Make Your Life Easier (TM). The various things included in this mod are designed to give you a generous boost or just make the game laughably easy. (There is also an item you can use to make your life harder if you so choose...) There are a couple of different components to this mod, which you can mix and match freely to fully customize your experience. Among them are:

~ Unreasonably OP and somewhat OP gems
~ Unlocking 5 slots in your Dragon amulet from the get go
~ Changes to the game difficulty in various flavors, including minigames
~ A workaround for Open Palm characters to be able to do The Zither of Discord quest

GEMS

The Do It Yourself Pack

You need a temporary boost for that one fight without affecting the rest of the game? Or it's the opposite, and you want a bigger challenge? You want to have an unreasonbly long health-chi-focus bar, even longer than what you get with the other packs? Well, these two trinkets are just for you!

Featured in this pack:



Every time you equip this beauty, your Health, Chi and Focus increases by 10. Yes, you read it right, every time. The effects of this gem stack and remain active even when it isn't equipped, which means that the only limit of how far your bars stretch is the number of times you are willing to click on it. (That's a lie, there is a limit to how far the bars stretch visually, but your stats increase even beyond that.)



Every time you equip this vicious trinket, your Health, Chi and Focus decreases by 10. The effects of this gem stack and remain active even when it isn't equipped. You can use it to reverse the effects if you clicked one too many times on the Gem of Growth, or just on its own if you want to give yourself more of a challenge.

Where to find them

Both gems can be looted from the skeleton in the last room of the spirit cave, after meeting the Water Dragon for the first time.


The God of Hyperdeath Pack

This is as OP as it gets. With these gems equipped, no one will be able to oppose you in battles of blows or words. No traps will be able to take you by surprise. Your riches will make you the talk of every merchant from Two Rivers to the Imperial City.

Where to find them

~ The gems get added to your inventory automatically upon picking up the Dragon Amulet.
~ To unlock the two additional slots, smash the vase right behind the amulet's pedestal. Make sure to only do this after you have picked up the amulet!
~ The money is in the other vase on the western side of the amulet room.


The Minor Deity Pack

The less insane version of the above pack.

Featured in this pack:



The Dragon Amulet unlocked! Five slots at your disposal for all your gems you will have to actually work for (a bit.)

Where to find them

~ The gems get added to your inventory automatically upon picking up the Dragon Amulet.
~ To unlock the two additional slots, smash the vase right behind the amulet's pedestal. Make sure to only do this after you have picked up the amulet!
~ The money is in the other vase on the western side of the amulet room.


DIFFICULTY TWEAKS

These tweaks all affect the Easy difficulty mode of the game, all other difficulties are untouched.

Piece of Cake
~ Receive half as much damage as you would on Easy diffculty
~ Do twice as much damage as you would on Easy difficulty
~ Optional: Invincibility during minigames

You Will Only Die From Old Age
~ Receive only a single point of damage no matter what (including Chai Jin's dishes and the girl in the orphanage)
~ Do three times as much damage as you would on Easy difficulty
~ Optional: Invincibility during minigames

Minigames only
~ Invincibility during minigames; nothing else changed

ZITHER OF DISCORD FOR OPEN PALM

Are you playing an Open Palm character and want to experience The Zither of Discord quest anyway? Or maybe you just can't stand to see unfinished quests in your journal? Either way, this workaround is for you! By using this mod, your character will be recognized as Closed Fist even on the Open Palm path. Install this mod while you pick up the quest, and you can uninstall it right afterwards - it doesn't need to be active to be able to complete the quest. Don't worry, your Open Palm points will remain intact.



Installation

Note: Whenever you get asked whether you want to overwrite something, do it. Make sure to make a backup of your files, or use the backups provided in a separate download in case you want to go back.

GEMS
0) Choose ONE pack
1) Drop the dialog.tlk in your Jade Empire folder
2) Drop everything else in your override folder
3) If you want to use the DIY pack alongside one of the other packs, install the God of Hyperdeath/Minor Deity pack first, pick up everything in the amulet room, then drop the ar_spiritcave.2da from the DIY pack in your override folder and overwrite

DIFFICULTY TWEAKS
0) Choose ONE version you want to use
1) Drop the diffmodify.2da in your override folder

ZITHER OF DISCORD FOR OPEN PALM
1) Drop the def_good_evil.2da in your override folder when you talk to Scholar Six Heavens
2) Remove it after you accepted the quest

Overwrite the modified files with your backups to uninstall.

Compatibility

The three components of this mod are fully compatible with each other. Different versions of each component are NOT compatible, except for the DIY and OP gem packs, see install instructions for those.
Fully compatible with retexture mods.
Fully compatible with Papagamer's Mod Pack (including the new added styles.)
The Gems are NOT compatible with the Rainbow Style Pack.
The Difficulty Tweaks are NOT compatible with Celestial Master Difficulty.
Compatible with everything else currently on the Nexus as far as I can tell, but as a general rule of thumb, if two mods modify the same files, they are not going to be compatible.
