Are you playing at high enemy awareness setting? Or using a STALKER OVERHAUL mod?
Than BTR is probably engaging you at quite a long distance, but it's shots sound like they are fired right next to you.
Not anymore :) The further away the BTR is the quieter is it's cannon.
This mod DOES NOT add or modify any sound files. Just changes how game treats these files. Im not aware of any mod changing how BTR sounds so this mod should be compatible with everything.
This mod simply adjusts already existing values (So low that in vanilla sound change is barely noticable) to more realistic levels:
File: IntoTheRadius/Content/Sounds/Attenuation/Att_BTR_Fire.uasset Values: "dBAttenuationAtMax": -2.285714 value changed to -11 "FalloffDistance": 15000.0 value changed to 32000
Optional file: "dBAttenuationAtMax": -2.285714 value changed to -9 "FalloffDistance": 15000.0 value changed to 18000 (Fire volume decreases slightly less but drop off starts MUCH sooner, use optional file INSTEAD of main file if BTR engages you at short distances (Not across half of the map))
