    Because some people don't seem to understand the purpose of the mod: it's not to allow you to look around. The camera is locked when riding a broom, both for KB&M and controller - this is how the game works and it's another subject whether to change it or not. The mod allows you to move the broom up and down with your mouse, not move the camera up and down. Read the description carefully, please.

    If the mod doesn't work:

    1. Make sure you're unpacking the 7z into a pak.

    2. Checked the mod with QWERTY and AZERTY - it works with both. Try resetting your bindings to default - you can redo them after with the mod installed.

    3. If you have mods from multiple sources in multiple folders - who knows, might not work. So put all your mods in one folder: either the root one ("Hogwarts Legacy\Phoenix\Content\Paks") or the separate one for mods ("Hogwarts Legacy\Phoenix\Content\Paks\~mods").

    4. Keep in mind that the game stores your Input.ini in the cloud, so Steam can be stubborn and rewrite your changes. If it happens go offline and redo the controls.

    5. If you're using several mods that change inputs - you will have conflicts. Not that much can be done about it - we're missing a convenient tool to merge edited inputs on the user side.

    It is important for us to say a BIG thank you to the people who are helping the others to sort out their troubles and make the mod working. It's really appreciated because you are giving us time to look for a way to do the next mod and time is essence.

    If you've got "random" control inversions, make sure you're not using Spell Helper mod - or you're doing manual edits to your input file suggested there.

    Dear R457, I just wanted to thank you for this mod, this is 1000 times better than the stupid and cumbersome "solution" 300 developers came up with.
    Cheers to you mate!

    The inverted controls problem is real. It just happened to me randomly. The mod was working perfectly for a long while, then suddenly the vertical axis was inverted for the flight controls and it confused the hell out of me at first. I think I realized what the problem was though. I noticed in the Input.ini that anytime MouseY was used as a "Key" that there was only one entry with the "Scale" set to a positive value, but for the "MountVertical" there were two entries that were identical, except one had a positive "Scale" and the other had a negative "Scale". I had actually backed up this file from earlier and noted that the first entry in the backup was the positive one, but the first entry in my live Input.ini was the negative one. I think the game just uses the first entry it finds and if somehow these entries get swapped then the controls get inverted. I simply removed the second "negative" entry and that fixed my controls. I'm not sure if the mod was responsible for this or if the game was, but this would explain why not everyone ran into this issue. For good measure I also removed the negative entry for the "Mount_Move_X" just in case that might cause issues. I've only tested this briefly and it worked for me, but I'd be curious to see if this solves the problem for anyone else that's had this issue.

      Yes. I also had this mod work perfectly after a "control reset to defaults" and then no other issues for weeks until today. Went through my input.ini, and sure enough there was a duplicate entry for Mount_Vertical that had a negative scale. I took the line out so only the positive one remained, and lo and behold my controls aren't inverted on the broom anymore. Imagine that. Don't ask me why all of a sudden there was an extra negative entry in input.ini for Mount_Vertical... I didn't do anything, mod-wise, that might have triggered it AFAIK. But your comment helped me, PhoeniixFiire, so -- thank you. Might be a good time for me to set input.ini to read only...

    Thanks for your work. It would be great if there was a version that only allowed mouse control in high-speed mode.

    Thank you, this is now working beautifully!

    I've found the real controls seem to be unpublished, but please correct me if I'm wrong.  With or without this mod, and having pressed SHIFT to fly forward at a continuous medium speed:

    ->Press and hold W, and use the mouse to give you gentle direction changes.

    ->Holding W, press A or D (left & right) results in medium speed direction changes.  Use the mouse in tandem to keep your perspective forward.

    ->Release W, use only A or D to get really fast direction changes.  Again, use the mouse in tandem to keep your perspective.

    It's still tricky, but I hope this will help anyone who hasn't stumbled on these control combinations yet.

    Sir,
    I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart !
                                       - this mod is a bit jumpy, and needs getting used to, : But a MILLION times better than the game's own flight option!!!
    So fantastic work, and if I hadn't found this mod here, it probably would have been game over for me!

    NB: ( The only thing I recommend to others, is to download this mod manually! The game makers are currently trying to block all kinds of mods/cheats ,and when I used nexus loading it doesn't work - but manual works perfectly! )

    Thank you , thank you , thank you very much!

    As of 15Jan 2024, doesn't work.  I tried in the \Paks and \Paks\~Mods folders as per instructions, reset controls several times, rebooted steam and computer.  This mod simply does not work,  at least for me.

    After reading some comments about broken controls...
    I'm a new player with an unmodded game and I can assure you this mod works just fine.
    No idea what everyone is doing wrong here. Endorsed!

      I am also new, and I have searched for infos about how to apply this mod, meaning how do I get it to work? I have installed it according to the instructions, but I don't know how I can use it. What do I have to press or choose, so I can control the broom flight with the mouse?

      It works but the controls are always inverted unless it's been fixed since a few months back when I first tried the mod.

    If you're having issues uninstalling the mod, like even after removing it and resetting keybinds to default the mouse controls are still there, this workaround worked for me.

    Open Users/username/AppData/Local/Hogwarts Legacy/Saved/Config/WindowsNoEditor/Input.ini
    Save a backup of Input.ini
    Add the following lines to the bottom of Input.ini

    AxisMappings=(AxisName="Mount_Move_X",Scale=-1.000000,Key=A,GroupName="Mounts|Core",SortIndex=20)
    AxisMappings=(AxisName="Mount_Move_X",Scale=1.000000,Key=D,GroupName="Mounts|Core",SortIndex=20)
    AxisMappings=(AxisName="Mount_Move_X",Scale=1.000000,Key=Gamepad_LeftX,GroupName="Default",SortIndex=20)
    AxisMappings=(AxisName="Mount_Move_Y",Scale=1.000000,Key=Gamepad_LeftY,GroupName="Default",SortIndex=10)
    AxisMappings=(AxisName="Mount_Move_Y",Scale=-1.000000,Key=S,GroupName="Mounts|Core",SortIndex=10)
    AxisMappings=(AxisName="Mount_Move_Y",Scale=1.000000,Key=W,GroupName="Mounts|Core",SortIndex=10)
    AxisMappings=(AxisName="Mount_Move_Y",Scale=-1.000000,Key=None,GroupName="Mounts|Core",SortIndex=10)
    AxisMappings=(AxisName="Mount_Move_Y",Scale=1.000000,Key=None,GroupName="Mounts|Core",SortIndex=10)
    AxisMappings=(AxisName="MountVertical",Scale=-1.000000,Key=Gamepad_RightY,GroupName="Default",SortIndex=30)
    AxisMappings=(AxisName="MountVertical",Scale=-1.000000,Key=LeftControl,GroupName="Mounts|Vertical",SortIndex=30)
    AxisMappings=(AxisName="MountVertical",Scale=1.000000,Key=SpaceBar,GroupName="Mounts|Vertical",SortIndex=30)
    AxisMappings=(AxisName="MountVertical",Scale=1.000000,Key=None,GroupName="Mounts|Vertical",SortIndex=30)
    AxisMappings=(AxisName="MountVertical",Scale=-1.000000,Key=None,GroupName="Mounts|Vertical",SortIndex=30)

    This should reset mount controls to true defaults (some lines of the code may be redundant but I can't be bothered to test each line)

    Now don't touch the 'Reset to Defaults' button in game and you should be good.

      A variation of this post helped fix the inverse problem for me (didn't want to uninstall it), and without reseting all keys (a pain for me since I change most of them).

      Instead of adding/replacing lines, I deleted some instead.
      I searched for:
      AxisName="Mount
      and deleted every line that contained it.
      I also deleted the line with:
      AxisMappings=(AxisName="BroomAcceleration"
      Loaded the game back up and immediately the mouse was normal; I just had to rebind the mount controls ingame.

    Hey, I've noticed that EMOTE WITH ANY NPC mod makes the broom control inverted, whether you've installed the normal or inverted version.

    Just wanted to comment this in case anyone else has this issue and can't use the mod.

      I don't have that mod and I still get inverted controls. I think the required mod "Blueprint Apparate Modloader" is the one causing the inverted controls, because I have no issues with this mod until I install mods requiring it.

      I have used Blueprint mods alongside this with no problems until I used Emote With NPC, thats when my controls became inverted. So unfortunately I don't think the issue is as simple as that :/

    Install mod, reset bindings to default(just use the all button). Set bindings to what you want. Also, I had to swap my normal running left/right bindings after this because they were like mapped backwards for some reason.
