About this mod

Provides a selection of smaller, cleaner replacement reticles for aiming in third person. Now updated for patch 01.003.101!

Permissions and credits
The standard third-person reticles in Helldivers 2 are somewhat cluttered and oversized, so I decided to do something about it. If you're tired of seeing the Laser Cannon's carousel sights, or the Senator's epic illuminati triangle, you've come to the right place.

If you would like to make your own custom designs, see the SIGHT MODDING GUIDE.

The 01.003.101 patch adjusted the texture files and broke everything but the Laser Cannon file. Mod has been fixed accordingly.

The files for this mod now include four archives - These can all be used together or separately. Each archive includes variants that can be easily toggled between by using the HD2 Mod Manager.

The archive contents are as follows:

Circlesight - Hitmarker - Dynamics - This archive contains patches which replace the textures for the circlesight that shows where your weapon is actually pointed, the hitmarker, and the dynamic sight elements (Laser rifle/senator triangles, ballistic weapon bars, charge-up weapon bars).
These all have to be replaced together, because they are kept in a single texture file. Note that the texture file in question also contains the weapon icons used on the UI, so any mod that alters those will overwrite this mod's changes.
The variants are named with descriptors in the same order as the file name itself.

Center Dot - This archive contains patches which replace the texture for the center-of-screen dot sight.

Laser Cannon Spinners - Map Marker
- This archive contains patches which will remove or shrink the curved banana shape used for the spinning Laser Cannon sight (Which is kept in a separate file from the other sight graphics, for whatever reason). Additionally, you may choose to replace the player map pin with a more see-through design (since this graphic is also in the same file).

Deflection Icon - This patch provides the option to shrink or remove the deflection icon (which is also contained in a separate file from the other sight graphics, for whatever reason).

Lockon Circle - This archive contains patches which will alter or remove the big static circle sight used for lock-on weapons such as the SPEAR and WASP when aiming in third person (The texture for which is kept separate from the others). Note that for some reason, this particular "circle" texture is also used for other things in the UI as well (e.g., the "ping" effect on the ship map after you pick a drop point), so using this file may have some minor cosmetic side effects.

Note the following:
  • Understandably, reticles are very much a matter of personal preference. I have mostly moved on from this game, and I likely will not be doing more than updating a basic set of options. If you would like to make specific changes and design your own sights, consider checking out the SIGHT MODDING GUIDE
  • Modified center-of-screen dot reticles and dynamics will still react to color changes made under the game's accessibility settings. However, it seems like there is no way to add custom colors beyond those, or to set the dynamic circle reticle to any other color than the default white.
  • The SPEAR and WASP's third-person aiming circle can be altered with an optional file. HOWEVER, note that the actual third-person lock-on indicator is actually composed of the same triangles used in the senator/laser rifle sights - Therefore, if you use a variant of the Circleisght - Hitmarket - Dynamics file that removes the triangles, the SPEAR lock-on indicator will disappear as well.
  • More precise sights may not always lead to improved accuracy, as some weapons in this game have considerable innate spread. The author shall not be held liable for emotional damages incurred by learning to hate the Senator (It apparently got better in 01.003, but honestly, I still don't understand why it needs to have spread at all).
