Having used the mod for a bit in the tail end of the war for super earth, it DOES work. Sort of.
Sometimes you CAN hear the reaper sound effects, but theyre often very quiet and mixed in with the normal overship sound effects.
So unless youre a ME veteran whos heard the Reapers many many times and can identify when its a reaper and not an overship, the difference is negligible.
