The year is 1983, in a few months time the Japanese Empire shall reclaim its old glory!

In the servitude of Hirohito in his old age and the new military government much like in the Second World War, it is only the right move of the Japanese Empire to attempt one final war before the old generation passes away in a few years.

Ever since the great retreat that was the cold war for the Setting Sun, Japan had lost 90% of its colonies.

In 1963; Malaya, a poor mismanagement of Insurgency.

1963-65; The Philippines, a poor control of the island had left Japan at odds with communists to the North and the Americans to the South, after the Balintawak Blitz the 14th Army could simply not retake the Islands.

1965-68; Indonesia, The Islands of Indonesia were the 2nd most populous colony outside of the Chinese quagmire, meaning an Uprising was guaranteed to happen within 20 years of the Victory that was 1945.

1966-69; The one domino that completely collapsed on Japan, the NPA had driven the Japanese forces out of China as a whole, only leaving the Mongol and Outer Manchuria colonies in Japans hands after the Great Asian War. The GAW had killed off most of the best experienced seasoned divisions of the IJA, giving the IJN the upper hand in funding and budgetary meetings with the Government. Ensuring a strong Navy, being the only thing Japan had gained after the War. The GAW had left many bitter roots in the Home Islands, it was only a matter of military build-up and jingoistic fervour before Japan would come marching back.

1969; Hawaii & The Western Ports, the one major part of American land that Japan had snatched from the USA in 1945. Lyndon B. Johnson had the upper hand on the negotiation table, no thanks to the incompetent technocrats in power who only cared about making a profit in Guangdong and other colonies (until all that wasn't in our hands any more).

1969-1973; Japan was now taken to the side in the Cold War, with the Germans struggling to maintain a hold outside of Europe thanks to the total American victory in West Africa, South Africa, South America, Italy and the Middle East, and plenty more.

1977; The Vietnamese government had been facing a communist threat for decades, after the Death of Ho Chi Minh, under the leadership of Truong Chinh and secret build-up of forces the Viet Minh launched an all out offensive in 1976 with aid from the new ROC in 1978, Russian Federation in 1978, and the OFN/OFN aligned nations by 1980, by late 1980 the Viet Minh were stuck around the central city of Vinh, however a surprise offensive with international troops into Laos had caused an overstretch on our Vietnamese frontlines, causing a collapse in the front once the Vietnamese had retreated to the Southern Highlands, with Saigon captured in December 1980. However Japan still maintained its hold on Kampuchea and loyal ally Thailand.

The Russians were now climbing up the ladder of global power, our inability to get the Siberians within our economic sphere, and with the talks over outer Manchuria 2 years after they unified in 1971, alongside their development of Nuclear weaponry giving them the equal footing they needed in any situation, and the fact they had rebels and a military presence on our old border, we had no choice but the transfer of old Russian land back to the new Novosibirsk government.

The Second West Russian War had thankfully taken Germany out of the game permanently, and with it the Russians had replaced the Germans. Which came with problems for Japan. After rebuilding Eastern Europe, Russia looked eastward:

1978; Shushkins re-election had brought along a new global power, the Collective Security Treaty Organisation, the new Guardian of Eurasia had swept the Mongol protectorate from us and replaced it with a republic, this had brought no good will with the Empire, after all we only assumed they would go for Outer Manchuria and leave it at that.

1979; The Azad Hind Government was getting more unstable by the month with protests for the call of re-unification with the Republic of India, however the government would crack down, as per usual protocol in the CPS. However the Rising Sun was setting at this point, what was once the mid-day of the Empire in 1945-62, had now become the evening of the quite possible short life of Japans wild ride by 1979. The IJA/IJN could not send forces to aid the Azad Hind Government in supressing the riots, revolts and calls for a Free India. This was mostly contributed by the fact the economy of Japan was in a major recession due to having no major empire to make a profit. The Indians recently in the OFN by 1975, had launched an offensive of Freedom, Re-unification, and Liberty into Eastern India (in 1979), with major contingents of the OFN landing in the bay of Bengal, cutting off any chance of the Imperial Military assisting their lost ally in India.

1982; Korea, by 1980 the foreign interference of the America, Russia, and China all of which were now democracies had given birth to democratic war of independence in the Northern Regions, however with insurrection in the South, most Border troops stationed on the Chinese border were sent south to supress the Korean rebels, after all it was on the Doorstep of the Home Islands. The armistice of 1982 was a controversial decision by the Government, the amount of bitter revanchists were clearly in Major opposition, in the turmoil of political and mass social uproar at home, the militarist hardliners took over with mass popular support (See comment explaining this one). Although the Armistice is still in effect, it would soon be revoked and the IJA will once again take back Korea.
