On 9 January 2023 we will be performing scheduled maintenance which will mean the entire site as well as our forums will be unavailable for a time. Please note that this will also affect the functionality of mod managers - downloads, updates, endorsements etc. (anything that requires interaction with our website and API). As we will be migrating our database to an upgraded system, we aim for this process to take several hours, but to be on the safe side please expect the site to be down for somewhere between 12 and 24 hours.
What is happening?
We're migrating our database to an upgraded system. This is planned maintenance that will take place 9 January 2023 starting at 05:00 AM (GMT). As this is an involved process, we estimate it to take several hours, potentially longer - somewhere between 12 and 24 hours. In addition to this news post we will display a (dismissible) notification banner with a countdown a few days before the maintenance work begins.
While we're doing our absolute best to ensure the migration goes smoothly, please note that you may experience a few hiccups and bugs here and there even after the maintenance work has finished.
Our site as well as our forums will have to remain offline during the maintenance phase. This also means that mod managers, both our mod manager Vortex as well as third-party mod managers, will not be able to download/update mods from our site. Any other tool interfacing with our site/API will likely not work either while we're offline.
Please also note that the forums will need to be kept offline for a bit longer than the site itself (2-3 hours of additional downtime), so expect the site to be back and running before the forums will.
New user registrations
Once we're done with the database migration, new user registrations will remain temporarily disabled until we sort everything out and we are confident that the migration was fully successful. We estimate registrations to remain disabled for another 2-3 hours after the site is back online. This will only impact you if you don't already have an account on our site, so if you're reading this and don't have an account you can register now to avoid being affected.
What about my Premium membership?
First of all let us acknowledge and thank all of our Premium users for supporting the site - it's truly appreciated. While we aim for the maintenance work to not be too disruptive for too long, we're very aware that our Premium members have paid for a service that they'll effectively be missing out on for some time while we perform this maintenance work. It's something we've been discussing and we think the right thing is to try our best to compensate our Premium users for this downtime.
We've reviewed our options and what we plan to do is to (re-)integrate a gifting system for Premium memberships (it might be coupons, codes, or vouchers) in the future. With such a system we would then issue a coupon for free Premium time to every Premium member affected by the downtime. That's the good news and we're happy to commit to doing that. However, as this is a project of its own we cannot at this point say when exactly we'll be able to tackle this and issue the free Premium time to our users. What we can say, however, is that we plan to accomplish this within this calendar year. So, if you're an active Premium member during the downtime on 9 January 2023, you may be impacted on that day, but we will eventually send you a coupon/gift code for Premium time that you can then redeem whenever you like (or potentially gift to a friend).
No mods? What will I do?
I'm glad you asked! Just because our site will be offline doesn't mean our community will be, too. The Community Management Team as well as your fellow modders will be available on our Discord server - come say hello when you get a chance!
Keep your eyes peeled and check our social media for updates on the migration process to learn more about when we'll be back online.
Thank you all, despite this short disruption to your favourite hobby - modding your games - we hope you have a fantastic new year!
Wow, that was really fast! I just clicked on a mod link to here over on Reddit, expecting to still see the maintenance page, so I was floored when the regular site came up, as well as pleased that I was able to log back in without issue. Also, everything seems MUCH faster, cheers!
Witcher 3 was removed from my managed games and I can't readd it the error message says "Expected to find these files: bin/x64/witcher3.exe" but the witcher3.exe is in the x64_dx12 file
