What is Definitive Edition?
Definitive Edition is an overhaul of ODST with the goal of refining and also expanding the overall experience, changing the core gameplay, tweaking almost every encounter, adding new weapons and adding to/changing the enemy sandbox. In this mod you will not be a super soldier, you're vulnerable and every mistake could mean your death. You're an ODST, the UNSC's best unaugmented soldiers, every encounter must be thought out and executed with precision as an ODST would be expected to do. You will be challenged and forced to break old habits. Be warned legendary is not for the casual player. Aside from the increased difficulty you will find many weapons and encounters have been changed as well as some new additions. The great schism has begun and Elites are in open conflict with the Brutes while humanity is caught in the middle. Grab your Silenced Battle Rifle and make your way through the carnage in search of your team.

For a fair and balanced experience play Heroic. For a punishing but rewarding experience play Legendary.
Firefight works fine but will be buggy at some points as I will be working on Firefight in a later update.

SUMMARY OF CHANGES FROM VANILLA:

Global Changes:
*Player health system has been revamped to be more unique from the other halo games .Stamina is now basically non existent and your health has been increased significantly. What this means is each shot from the enemy will slowly chip away at your health so the many health packs scattered around Mombasa are your best friend. In case you’re worried about getting stuck in situations where you get a checkpoint and have a sliver of health don’t worry because after taking cover for a short period of time up to 50% of your health will regenerate.

*Almost every encounter in the game has been tweaked with some surprises here and there including new enemy types. Large scale battles in the flashback missions now feature many more allied marines and police fighting alongside you.

*Elites are now in ODST and are a serious threat. They are in open conflict with the brutes, USE THIS TO YOUR ADVANTAGE.

*Allies are tougher in general.

*Player melee damage has been significantly reduced but bladed weapons such as the brute shot, spiker and mauler have the most powerful melee.

*Legendary difficulty no longer makes all enemies bullet sponges, enemy vitality and shields are now equal on all difficulties.

*Legendary enemy damage tweaked and friendly legendary damage slightly increased.

*Engineers give enemies less shielding and will no longer explode after their leader dies making it possible to actually save them if you choose.

*Brutes have been reworked.

1. All brutes must have their helmets shot off before getting a headshot. Brute captain and chieftain helmets require 2 shots.

2. Brutes will now be more reactive to being shot, most weapons will stun them with concentrated fire when unshielded.

3. Brute ranks have been consolidated and redone. Instead of the many pointless brute ranks of vanilla H3 it has been brought down to a more streamlined set. Minor (blue armor), Major (red armor), Captain (golden bronze captain armor), Chieftains, Bodyguard (black captain armor), Stalker, Tracker(steel armor
with green undersuit), Jetpacks.

4. The new Tracker rank is a class of brutes that are sent in to scout/loot war zones and are frequently seen utilizing human weaponry as well as long range weapons.

4. Minor, Major and Tracker ranks do not have shields.

5. Brute armor does not fall off.

6. Brutes melee more frequently and their berserk is more aggressive but they berserk less.

Visual Changes:
*Every mission has had the color filters removed so what you see is the true color of the game.

*Bloom in all missions is significantly reduced. This includes VISR mode.

*VISR mode is now usable during daytime without being blinded.

*Lighting altered in a few missions.

*Player camera height lowered to make you the same height as your ODST squad mates.

Weapon Changes:
*Precision weapons have had their aim assist and magnetism significantly reduced. This will make it so instead of being headshot machines precision weapons will actually require you to be precise at medium range or farther

*Silenced Weapons firing sounds are now actually silent to enemies.

*View models for almost all weapons have been tweaked to more accurately represent how a person would hold the weapons.

Precision weapons:
Needle Carbine (Replaces Covenant Carbine): Similar to the Needle Rifle from Reach, with a 2x zoom this Carbine fires high velocity needles but is not particularly strong. The strength of this weapon is the supercombine explosions caused by 7 needles hitting the target in rapid succession. Features a new unique firing sound.

Battle Rifle: The Battle Rifle makes a return, with a 3x zoom and an increased bullet velocity from vanilla. But this rifle now has a decent amount of recoil requiring you to aim your 3 round bursts well.

Silenced Battle Rifle: A brand new Battle Rifle variant featuring a suppressor and reflex sight with a 1.5x zoom. This BR is semi auto and can be fired as fast as you can pull the trigger. Features a new unique firing sound.

Automag: Now features a 2x zoom with a slower but still fast fire rate and increased damage.

Magnum: Halo 3 magnum is now in ODST with a 2x zoom and stronger damage.

Mauler: The Mauler has been reworked and now functions as high powered brute revolver dealing heavy damage and capable of landing headshots.

Sniper Rifle: Can damage vehicles now.

Beam Rifle: Damage decreased. Shots use up more battery.

Non Precision Weapons:
SMG:
The smg is now in ODST with a little more spread and damage than halo 3.

Silenced SMG: The SSMG now features a 1.5x zoom.

Assault Rifle:
The Assault Rifle has been significantly buffed with increased bullet velocity and increased damage. Features a new unique firing sound.

Shotgun: Damage and range increased, sights changed to green to match Halo 2.

Brute Plasma Rifle: Now fires in a 4 round burst at a high rate of fire.

Plasma Rifle: Functions like Halo 3 plasma rife but increased damage.

Plasma Pistol: Increased damage, overcharged shots use more battery.

Spiker: Now fires 2 spikes at a time out of both barrels at a slow rate of fire.

Needler: Increased impact damage.

Power Weapons:
Fuel Rod Gun: The FRG projectiles now have an activation time, once fired the rod will exit the tube slowly similar to a javelin rocket and then activate
launching at high speed towards the target.

Rocket Launcher: Rockets fly much faster giving the Rocket Launcher some serious bang for your buck.

Overcharged Carbine: A new carbine variant only used by high ranking Spec Ops Elites. This battery based Carbine fires explosive shots and must be cooled
down after each shot. Very rare weapon, can only be found in a few places throughout the campaign.

Brute Shot: Damage decreased but now causes enemies to be stunned with each hit.

Spartan Laser: No change.

Grenades:
Spike Grenade:
Now causes heavy damage on impact.

Plasma Grenade: Added EMP effect.

Turrets:
Machine Gun Turret: Increased fire rate, increased accuracy.

Plasma Turret: No Change.

Vehicle Weapons:
Warthog Chaingun: Increased damage.

Banshee bomb: Decreased damage.

Anti Air Wraith: Decreased damage, added projectile tracking. Increased projectile velocity.
