About this mod
Halo 2 MCC mod that provides different camera modes. Third-person views, a 'droppable' camera, no UI views, and a 'free cam' mimic feature so you can record footage from different perspectives.
- Requirements
- Permissions and credits
- Donations
Also, I set up this page so people can donate if they like the mod or maybe even if they don't like the mod either works for me honestly. Anything given is very much appreciated :)
Okay, the mod has different camera 'modes' and 2 new weapons that also provide different camera functions. If you've looked at my other Halo 1 'free cam' mod, I couldn't figure out how to access the debug cam for Halo 2 sadly, so I messed around and tried to mimic it as much as possible (with some additional stuff thrown in).
INSTALL INSTRUCTIONS
- Find the folder called 'halo2' in your 'Halo The Master Chief Collection' folder. This should be wherever the game is installed.
- Make a copy of the 'h2_maps_win64_dx11' folder and keep it somewhere safe so you can revert back to the original files later.
- Copy my map files into the 'h2_maps_win64_dx11' folder and hit replace when prompted.
- Play the game with mods enabled (anti-cheat disabled).
Camera
- Hitting the 'zoom' key will cycle through the camera options. It will zoom in and bring up the UI for the zoom at first, but my script will run and change the view to whichever camera mode you're on if you give it a second.
- The first mode is 'reset', so the first time you hit the zoom key it might not do anything. Just hit it again if this happens.
- The second mode removes the UI and player model from the screen and makes AI ignore you so you can record stuff without getting blasted in the face.
- The third mode basically lets you 'drop' the camera, meaning you can run around as chief without the camera following you. Just hit the button and run forward. You can get some different angles with this as you can drop it mid-jump to leave it up in the air as you run around or whatever.
You'll have a new weapon given at the start of each level. This comes with a lot of ammo and doesn't take up a slot in your 'inventory', so you can pick up other stuff as you go along. The weapon is:
- Modded 3rd Person Plasma/Battle Rifle - Equipping this puts you in third person, and you can run around shooting stuff as normal. You can also cycle through the camera modes with the zoom key while this is equipped to get third-person views of your character doing stuff without UI or whatever if that interests you. Some maps will have the battle rife, and some will have the plasma, but both do the same thing.
IMPORTANT: THE BANSHEE DOESN'T SPAWN PROPERLY IN REMASTERED DUE TO MODEL STUFF. SPAWN IT IN ORIGINAL GRAPHICS THEN SWITCH TO REMASTERED WHEN YOU'RE FLYING IT.
Spawning the banshee is interesting as it's at the mercy of physics when placed, so it will spin out and probably destroy itself if it collides weirdly with the environment. I've tried to reduce this but physics isn't my strong point and halo modding is confusing. I've found some success by aiming straight forward and down slightly, or straight up in the air, so fiddle around with it. It will work eventually.
Spawning another banshee while one is already out will remove the old one if you've flown it before, otherwise, you'll just keep spawning banshees so maybe don't go crazy with this. Enemies will ignore you in the banshee and won't try to steal your ride from you.
If there's a banshee spinning around and being annoying try shooting it or blowing it up as this deletes it sometimes (or it used to but I've made so many changes I've lost track of what currently works).
You can hold 'A' to speed up and hold 'S' to slow down while using the banshee (this is helpful for fitting through small doorways and stuff). You can also hit 'A' and 'D' to do a swerve. 'Look' is controlled with your mouse.
OLD MAPS
This is an updated version. The previous version was very basic and mimicked a free cam by having Chief flying constantly. Instead of the features listed above you'd be permanently flying and hit 'jump' to toggle your body visuals and UI. The old version didn't have a third-person view or the dropped camera thing that I mentioned above. If you find the banshee too difficult, let me know, and I'll upload the old maps.
