NOTE: The Needler at the moment is kind of broken vs Brutes; Needles won't always attach to Brute armor like they should. This will be fixed in the final version, whenever that happens.

The increased bullet magnetism for the magnum pistol was unnecessary and is VERY overpowered.

I really like how you have both Elites, and Brutes alive during the events of ODST (that’s how the original game should have been).  I also really like how when the Brutes shields go down their armor remains, and it crumples when shot (BAM!  I just crumpled the kid!  When are you going to stop playing games with God!?).

I have a bunch of ideas for your mod.  These all sound really good in my head, but I’m well aware they they could be terrible.

Ideas for the Elites:  I think that the Elites should be the main enemy for the first half/two thirds of the game, and the Brutes would appear at night, and the last part.  Bunker Jeromy did this with his mod, and it definitely makes the game feel more lore accurate.  He made it so all the dead Elites, and Brutes are replaced with ODSTs, and Elites as a way to show that you’re not the only squad.  When the Great Schism happens the lesser Covenant should side with whoever’s currently in charge of them, like in your Halo 2 mod.  This would make things more chaotic, and it would enhance the setting to see them fighting.  In the base game Elites are on team Covenant, while Brutes are on team Prophets.  You could assign them to these teams.  If possible you should add the Elite Rangers (Halo 2 version that flies).  They would act as a good counter to the Brute Jumpers.  You should also have some of the higher ranking Elites be carrying around Plasma Turrets, kind of like what the War Chieftains do.  This would act as a counter, and look really cool.

Ideas for the Brutes:  For the Brutes I think that it would be cool if when they were first introduced you’d see them fighting alongside the Elites, then later on they turn against each other.  This would be a good way to make the player feel overwhelmed at first, then they’d have a fighting chance while the two sides are distracted.  Maybe there could be a few segregated units of Brutes fighting for the Elites before Truth’s fleet arrives.  They would be equipped with the weapons they use in Halo 2, and Elite Plasma Pistols.  They would be mostly used as expendable shock troops.  Chieftains wouldn’t be present.  Maybe you could make it so that if the Brutes still have some of their Power Armor their shields will regenerate, just slower, and weaker with each piece removed.  I really like how you changed the colors of the Brutes undersuits to make it look like hair.

    Ideas for the lesser Covenant:

Drones:  For the Drones that are armed with Plasma Rifles they should have the Plasma Rifle of their commanding race.  Same thing applies to the other Covenant.

Jackals:  I like that removing the helmet acts as a way to make this look more like Halo 2, although some people might not like the Snipers/Marksman being less visible.  You should have the Jackal armor match the colors that they were in Halo 2.  That would be a good way to add some visual continuity.  You could also use your Jackal Spec Ops idea, and give them either a Brute or Elite Plasma Rifle, depending on who’s in charge of them.

Grunts:  For the Grunts I think that their colors should be slightly adjusted to match how they were in 2.  Luckily they will be fairly easy to do.  Maybe the Spec Ops could be stationed mainly with Elites (this would make the Great Schism more interesting).

You should work with RejectedShotgun, and GreenKnight to add some Halo 2 vehicles like the Spector, Shadow (unused Troop Transport version seen in the Halo 2 e3 trailer, and the Ghost Carriers), and the Halo 2 Scarab (best version of the Scarab in terms of visuals).  Brutes would have all the new Halo 3 vehicles, while Elites are using the stuff from Halo 2.  For the night level where you have to get past a Scarab there should be another Scarab fighting it (Halo 2 vs Halo 3 Scarabs).  Elites would also have the Wraiths with side guns, and the three turret Phantoms.  While Brutes have the Halo 3 Wraiths, and Phantoms.  It would add more chaos into the fights.

Now for an even crazier idea:  When we get better modding tools you should add in the Drinol Beast/Sharquoi into the game.  This was a cut enemy from both CE, and 2.  In the lore it’s mentioned that during the battle of Earth the Elites we’re thinking about using one of these things.  This is a reference to the fact that they were supposed to be in 2.  These things would act as vehicle busters, throw debris, and just curb stomp infantry.  There could be a section where you’re being chased by one, and it’s killing Brutes along the way to you.  Think the part in Halo Life where you’re being chased by the Gargantuan while marines are shooting at it.  These would be aligned with the Elites, while Brutes have the Engineers.

For the ending level where you drive along the highway there could be some Shadows carrying Ghosts, and Elite troops.  They would also be trying to escape the city, and have been mostly reduced to Elites, and Spec Ops Grunts.  That would definitely be a great way to show just how bad the Covenant is, that their former allies are fleeing.

For the UNSC you’d should add in some squads of ODSTs to fight alongside you.  This would help to show that you aren’t the only ODSTs in the area.  Maybe you could use the same ideas for ODSTs that you did in your Halo 3 Rebalanced mod (minus the Covenant weapons expert).  Marines could also be made more plentiful, and have a fighting chance.

The reason I’m not the one making this with all these crazy ideas is because I don’t know how to code.  If I did I’d make this myself.

By side guns do you mean the automated plasma cannons (basically sentry guns) the wraith in Halo 2 had?

Okay. Those would be kind of annoying though. And I'm guessing you meant Shadow when you said Ghost Carrier. Honestly that vehicle should have been in more Halo 2 levels and in Halo 3. It's a cool design and basically functions like a Covenant military truck.

Pretty interesting, but I'd reduce the Covenant Carbine's projectile speed nerf BY A LOT. It would also be a lot nicer if some issues with the SOCOM magnum pistol got fixed. I swear the bullet physics are so broken that 5 grunts in a circle with one in the center can be killed by a single bullet from that thing.

wow this is impressive, really fun to play through these, though there are some problems youre probably aware of, brutes are a bit too melee happy against marines and ive had an instance where a brute kept meleeing a marine non stop with neither of them dying, an unstoppable force meets an immovable object lol. that and its a little too easy, granted i played it on heroic and legendary is a suitable challenge i just think heroic needs to be a bit harder specifically with on-foot encounters and vehicles to be a little more protective of their drivers, other than that great work, i especially enjoyed the use of the elites voice line at the end of uplift reserve

Awesome stuff! Here are a few suggestions I'd like to add to make the mod even better when it becomes a full thing!
-Give Elite Ultra/Zealots the multiplayer armor like in your Halo 3 rebalanced, or hell maybe even the season 7 armor for elites.
-Add some scenarios in the future campaign missions to fight with other ODST's that aren't just your own squad! Maybe re-add the ODST specialists?
-For the last mission, have it so brutes and elites are fighting, making it a more chaotic and fun drive sequence/escort quest.
Honestly I can't think of much else that doesn't involve more crazy and likely out of scope ideas. Love what you did! Can't wait to see what else is in store!

Any chance you could add more marines into the missions as well? Missions like tayari plaza feel empty of support and that you are still a super soldier who has to carry 90% of the fight, while missions like Kizingo Boulevard more like a proper battle that you are taking part in rather than carrying.

I really enjoyed the changes you've made, but I feel that stamina is necessary for firefight to be balanced. I've also noticed that hunters are incapable of hitting the player with their melee. I look forward to seeing how you proceed with this.

The decrease to Marine health is a really bad idea.

    Greetings!

I wanted to give some feedback for possible enemy ideas:

1.) Elite Ultras - wouldn’t it be cool if elite ultras used invincibility and rushed the player with their sword? Could make for a very threatening enemy!

2.) Elite Equipment - Elites are fun to fight but maybe allowing them to use bubble shields or regens could make them even tougher/dynamic! Would be interesting if they used an equipment we’ve never seen before - maybe a “disruptive” equipment piece that can deactive enemy equipment - just an idea

3.) Brute Stalker Chieftain - we’ve never seen a brute stalker chieftian, except for voridus, in an Halo game before! It would essentially be a Brute Chieftan with stalker armor and a chieftain head piece. He would have perma cloak and wield an energy hammer. One encounter I could see him being in is Kikiwani Station when Buck has to leave his banshee and go on foot to restart the power - there is a good amount of brute stalkers here and would be awesome to “see” a brute stalker chieftain!

I personally feel that #1 of these ideas is more plausible. Brutes already do it, albeit, the grav hammer has a more predictable moveset. With an energy sword, the animations are more instant, which may result in more frustration for the player.

Switching around armor types is prolly reaaaaaaaaallly hard to do for a modder, id almost rather they focus on re-balancing or adding other aspects.

The idea of elite equipment is interesting, theres an idea there.

Keep up the good work Ruby! We love your work!

      1. It is better to leave this ability for the Elite Zealot.
