Legend of Grimrock

here is a brief outline of the new 16 level "Excalibar dungeon", the 'Chiefy Dungeon' was just 7 levels, so it is more than double the size of that.

in the "Chiefy Dungeon" there was no encouragement at all for your Sorcerer to learn new spells, so that has changed in Excalibar, where a good number of spell scrolls are to be found.

I think it is safe to say that Chiefy D was a novice 2 hour battle mission where Excal D is a 4 hour detective mission. There are great battles to be had, but half way through the game in Excal, you are suddenly presented with so many routes and options that need "trying out," that you certainly could "lose your way" without strong concentration. The basic premise is that seven treasure items have to be found and the first an "Ancient Apparatus," is right there on Level 1 to give you the idea. Each time you find a treasure, an onscreen message confirms this and you hear a chime. Once you have the seven in your possession you then need to surrender them in the appropriate manner. You will then be invited to walk the final 100 yards to the end level (Level 16) (Game complete)

STEP BY STEP FROM AMPHITHEATRE

STEP 0ornate key through right hand door - begin collecting gold keys now

STEP 1go explore Brass Key 2 room, remember tip A

STEP 2go on Brass Key 1 door to Teleporter 1. NOTE from archer hallway don't go down stairs unless you want brass key 3 at back of zoo!!

STEP 3TIP B get round key

STEP 4 get gear key 2 from Archer Hallway

STEP 5 now go through archer hallway insert 2nd prison key and use round key to access golden keys Prison

STEP 6 use gold keys and TIP C :GEAR KEYS area, always do the left hand gear room first, it has 2 seats outside, then do the other gear room and leave by the stairs

STEP 7find your way back to the gold keys prison and now take the OTHER RELEPORTER TIP D

STEP 8 this leads you to gratings puzzle, take the stairs down to arrows puzzle but be careful, enemies on other side can surround you so let them come to you

go straight across to stairs up


STEP 9on other side of arrows puzzle is stairs leading to grand maze :remember flying bumblebbee in middle, be ready, I mean really ready, sorcerer ready
arrows FULL, everyone on full health the lot DO IT!!

STEP 10 you end up fighting a horde of infantry and cryerns take note that you then have 2 levers to choose from

choose the LEFT hand lever, it leads you back in to the archers hallway YES that is the way but save it now

there are three "torch holders" in the launch room, the middle one is a bit of a red herring but the outer two are critical, just place the torch in the outer two torch holders to progress, in both cases you can remove the torch afterwards and move on, please check out the video above to see this in action
