About this mod

This mod is just a customsettings.ini that i edited to reduce the frequency of pop in.

NOW WITH FOLIAGE DISTANCE CHANGES. FOLIAGE NO LONGER POPS IN!

Changelogs
VERSION 3 IS OUT. NOW WITH FOLIAGE AND SANER DEFAULT SETTINGS.

AFTER INSTALLATION GAME WILL HAVE STUTTER. THIS IS TEMPORARY AS THE GAME REBUILDS IT'S SHADER CACHE. ONCE DONE I PERSONALLY HAVE NO STUTTERS. DRIVE AROUND A WHILE AND LET THE GAME BUILD THE CACHE

IF YOU CAN'T RUN THE GAME ON ULTRA AS-IS, YOU WILL NOT HAVE A GOOD EXPERIENCE WITH THIS. I AM SURE TWEAKS CAN BE MADE, HOWEVER, YOU HAVE TO GET YOUR HANDS DIRTY

My RIG:
  • i7 7700k
  • RTX 2080 Super
  • 32 GB System Ram
  • Game installed to NVME ssd

THE NEW FOLIAGE SETTINGS CAUSE PERFORMANCE LOSS. IF YOU HAVE ISSUES IN THE WILDERNESS OPEN THE CustomSettings.ini AFTER YOU COPY IT OVER AND CHANGE

foliage.MaxOcclusionQueriesPerComponent=128
foliage.MinInstancesPerOcclusionQuery=65536

TO (and adding the extra lines):

foliage.MaxOcclusionQueriesPerComponent=50
foliage.MinInstancesPerOcclusionQuery=40250
grass.DensityScale=0.5
foliage.DensityScale=0.5

IT HELPED WITH THE OVERALL FPS, COMPARED TO THE MAX QUALITY SETTINGS. STILL LOOKS MUCH BETTER THAN VANILLA

-------------------------------------------------------------------

This mod is just a customsettings.ini that i edited to reduce the frequency of pop in. Compatible with all three games. Lights, statics, landscapes etc should all be at their highest quality at all times. I recommend you combine it with a fog mod and density mod for San Andreas.

Unfortunately the crappy low detail LOD for upstate in Liberty City seems to be the highest available. This config file doesn't fix that. Also missing or bugged objects don't get fixed either (bridge barriers in all 3 games, the busted bridge before it's fixed in III, the blown-up building in Vice City, the gates to Starfish Island in Vice City, other random bugged items).

IF YOU DON'T SEE ANY PEDESTRIANS YOU DIDN'T READ THE README! YOU HAVE TO UPDATE "GameUserSettings.ini" ACCORDINGLY OR THE GAMES WILL BE EMPTY.

IF YOU STILL DON'T SEE PEDESTRIANS COMMENT OUT THESE SETTINGS:

gta.peds.distance=3.0
gta.peds.density=6

Those are the only settings related to pedestrians that were changed. If you are still not seeing them, something else is causing it.

Also FIXED the VRAM settings that help with hitching, it should work much better than the last version.

INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS

-------------------------------------------------------------------

To install overwrite your customsettings.ini file with the one in the CORRESPONDING FOLDER FOR THE GAME YOU WANT in the.7z file. The new version has different settings for each game, if you copy the wrong one you will not have vehicles in your game.

The customsettings.ini file is located here:

GTA III:
C:\Users\[your user name]\Documents\Rockstar Games\GTA III Definitive Edition\Config\WindowsNoEditor
IMPORTANT: (in this same folder, open "GameUserSettings.ini" and change Traffic=2 to Traffic=3)

GTA VC:
C:\Users\[your user name]\Documents\Rockstar Games\GTA Vice City Definitive Edition\Config\WindowsNoEditor
IMPORTANT: (in this same folder, open "GameUserSettings.ini" and change Traffic=2 to Traffic=3)

GTA SA:
C:\Users\[your user name]\Documents\Rockstar Games\GTA San Andreas Definitive Edition\Config\WindowsNoEditor
IMPORTANT: (in this same folder, open "GameUserSettings.ini" and change Traffic=2 to Traffic=3)

I did not exhaustively tinker with these settings. I got it to where it looked how I wanted and quit messing with them. Have fun tinkering. It may or may not cause scene flickering in DX11 mode.
