Installation
There are multiple ways to install this mod, the easiest but riskiest method will be shared here, I don't know the developer's stance on using ReShade so use at your own risk. In general, as long as you can inject ReShade with add-on support and have it locate the add-on file then it should work. I personally use Special K for injection, if you have any other methods feel free to join HDR Den Discord server and share them in the "RenoDX: GIRLS' FRONTLINE 2: EXILIUM" forum thread in "hdr-mods-forum."
- Download ReShade. This version of ReShade is made by the RenoDX team and is optimized for the needs of our mods. Rename ReShade64.dll to dxgi.dll and place it next to the game executable. No ReShade effects are required.
- Place renodx-gfl2.addon64 in the same directory, next to ReShade's dxgi.dll and the game executable.
- Run game.
- Press HOME on your keyboard to access the ReShade UI. If installed correctly you should see a tab labeled "RenoDX."
About RenoDX
RenoDX, short for "Renovation Engine for DirectX Games", is a toolset to mod games. Currently it can replace shaders, inject buffers, add overlays, and write user settings to disks. Because RenoDX uses Reshade's add-on system, compatibility is expected to be pretty wide. Using Reshade simplifies all the hooks necessary to tap into DirectX without worrying about patching version-specific exe files. The source code is available on GitHub.
About Me
I am an HDR enthusiast with no programming experience prior to making this mod. As HDR is becoming more accessible and affordable, the lack of proper HDR support in games is unacceptable. Upon learning of RenoDX and trying out some mods others have created using it I decided to try learning how to do so myself, and within a month I am uploading this, my first mod, and have multiple others in the works.
If you'd like to support me, you can do so at my Ko-Fi. You can also support the creator of RenoDX, ShortFuse, here.
If you have any questions or need help, I'm more than happy to assist, just leave a message in the Discord thread mentioned earlier.
Credits
A big thanks to ShortFuse and Marat who helped me find my footing with RenoDX, as well as the RenoDX dev community as a whole for being very kind, helpful and knowledgeable in all things HDR.
Lilium for making the HDR analysis tool, which is extremely helpful for doing anything HDR related.
Screenshots
These images are in HDR and must be viewed in a Chromium-based browser with HDR enabled within Windows settings.
For every pair of screenshots, the first is vanilla SDR and the second is HDR.
